'throughout this life' (or was it 'through this life?) wasn't very good. But I've listened to his new song 'duquense whistle' and it's given me some hope for this new album. I'm definitely interested to see the outcome.

'oh mercy' is a definitely a great album. And I agree with Howard about 'shot of love' and 'infidels', both were pretty good. The song 'in the summerine' from 'shot of love' is a pretty great song.

I guess you cant count his MTV unplugged album because it didn't consist of any new material, but it still showed to me that bob still had it and he could stay make those songs sound great while putting a new spin on them.

Salami, if you're seeing this, I'd like to hear your insight. I think I remember you being a pretty big fan of some of his more recent music.

The single most important musical influence on my life. Listening to Bob took to me to another place, his words and the images they conjured up took me on a surrealistic journey no other writer has been able to match, the way the words seem to roll and fall on top of one another still astounds me, his wit, his playfulness, his heart, his anger, his frustrations, no other musical artist has quite summed up the human condition as wisely or as poetically as Bob. IMHO he is one of the 20th centurys true geniuses, i feel honored and inspired to have had him as a part of my life.

Am I the only one who thinks the Basement tapes is one of his best albums?

I'm a big fan of the band but I think the basement tapes is better than anyone of their albums.

Just recently upgraded from my old CD version of the Mono Recordings set to a vinyl copy of the set. Listening to them was how I spent most of my day today and I have to say...a lot of love was put into that set. Packaging is great, as is sound quality. If only the Beatles could get a vinyl reissue set like that...

Also, looks like Tempest is out. I look forward to hearing what you guys think about it if-and-when-you all pick it up!

i got the leak of Tempest

liking it so far, even more so than "Together Through Life" - the production is stark and bleak, and he repeats one or two chords in only one bar repeated throughout a song

certainly interesting

though his voice sounds like ****

i also got the other Dylans I put off getting last time, his late eighties stuff
