I'm trying to imagine a world where Bob Dylan sounds "weird". These people clearly need to hear some Sun Ra.

If I was the teacher, I woulda schooled them all on their horrible taste in music...complete with a "This is what's wrong with this generation..." rant.

I should put on some Sun Ra and film their reaction. That would've been fantastic in a tragicomic way.

On the subject of... well... the actual subject of this thread, I think you'll be happy to know I've gotten my hands on a few Dylan albums in the past week or two and am giving them some serious listens. As you suggested before, I'm considering doing some kind of thread similar to my Beatles one. Maybe not strictly Dylan, but a variety of artists from that time period including him.

I wouldn't say I've been anti-Dylan or anything, just kind of neutral about him. On the handful of occasions I've had a friend play one of his albums around me or whatever, I've usually thought to myself that I should give him more of a listen. I've just never really gotten around to it.

Dylan fans aren't all the same. Some people love the early stuff and hate the later stuff, some people are the opposite. I wouldn't restrict my listening to any one time period, though.

I'd be interested to see some of your reviews on him. And which songs and albums you prefer.

Which albums have you picked up?

Blonde on blonde is essential but I'm not sure it's his best album. It's pretty much impossible to call one his best. Highway 61 is widely considered his best album. I might not be able to say which is his best but I can say which isn't and highway 61 isn't. I probably say blonde on blonde is better, blood on the tracks as well. Speaking of it, I haven't listened to it in a while. I'm going to have to put it on as soon as I get in my car. Although I will say that I don't think like a rolling stone is overrated. Its one of those timeless songs for me.

I've picked up Blonde on Blonde, Blood on the Tracks, Bringing It All Back Home and Highway 61 Revisited. I've only given each a listen or two, not really enough to form an opinion, but I'm open to other suggestions to check out.

i would say those are the best places to start

if you don't like them, don't bother picking up the rest

only diehard fans like me and blastingas would really enjoy the "lesser" stuff
