You really need to get to Oh Mercy already
Chronicles is a great read, you'll enjoy it. |
Hi,
I need your help. I'm working on a project to make a typeface of the Subterranean Homesick Blues Q-cards. I know the cue cards were written by Donovan, Allen Ginsberg, Bob Neuwirth and Dylan himself. But do you know which one of them is written by Dylan (and maybe which by the others)? Thanks! |
Just had a superb listen to Blonde on Blonde. For some reason this listen was very nostalgic for me, reminding me of when I first heard the album in a weird way. I mean, it wasn't even that long ago, less than two years ago, but I guess that doesn't matter much.
The first time I listened to Blonde on Blonde was on a terribly scratched hand-me-down from a family member's attic. The two LPs are both marked with a "Side 1" and a "Side 2" so I ended up picking the wrong record first. For my first listen, the album started with Most Likely You Go Your Way and had Sad Eyed Lady right in the middle of the album. That weirded me out. That copy has the original inner gatefold photos, though, and that was cool. Anyway, good times. Still need a copy of Blood on the Tracks. |

just not as "terrible" as people make it out to be |
So you've only listened to Blonde on Blonde twice? It takes several listens for me to really begin to appreciate a song

Desire on the other hand, is an album I can still enjoy, although, as previous posters have mentioned, I usually skip Joey, which oddly enough has the same failing as some Blonde On Blonde tracks; choruses that are too long and are repeated too often. Congrats, btw, to Chives : your scheme of working through Dylan`s albums chronologically is breathing new life into this thread. I really enjoy reading your fresh impressions of these old albums. |

Ive probably listened to Blondel on Blondel 10 or so times completely (partly guessed partly based on last.Fm stats). So really...not an awful lot. Maybe some day. |
