Yes, country music has followers in Canada. If I had any doubt, that doubt was erased by the teenaged me wandering into a shoe store in Thessalon, Ontario and seeing the guy working there wearing a wifebeater and watching Hee Haw on TV.

Everyone knows about kd lang. I had heard of Valdy but never heard anything by him before. Thanks for posting that tune, DMBFFF. Despite the tune's protagonist's dislike for the rock crowd, the guitar solo is certainly rock and roll. I like the song, though. Also interesting to hear Gordon Lightfoot's "Sundown" done in a different language. And Stompin' Tom Connors (RIP) shows why he had such a devoted fanbase.
