Indeed. And somehow the sound is different. Especially on Kids on the Run. Sounds like a Bruce Springsteen song.

The Wild Hunt is great stuff, probably the Best Album Of 2010 Thus Far.

Was going to see him at the cultural center in Philadelphia, until I found out the ticket prices.. So damn close.

I saw him live in DC at the 9:30 club. He commanded the stage. Such an emotional concert. After his opening band, they took everything offstage except for a chair and 3 guitars. I fell in love.

humm, I'm gonna have to take some time to look through this guy
that above link, his voice sounded EXACTLY like Marcus' from Mumford & Sons there for a second and I was goin crazy haha. Yet this sounds damn good and while his accent sorta kills me every now and again I really like what I hear so far yet I do expect a sorta hit-miss relationships with him like I have with so many artists like him |
Fantastic singer/songwriter from Sweden. His raw voice is excellent. You love it or hate it. Did see him live twice and 12 Nov he's playing again in Groningen. If you like singer/songwriter, you should give this guy a try.

At first I was amazed at the resemblance of Kristian Mattson's voice to Bob Dylan's. His exquisitely crafted songs also remind me of Dylan's "Blood On Tracks/Desire" era songs. After listening to the full content of his 2 full length albums and 1 ep, the novelty of Mattson's performances has worn a bit thin for me. I still think he's a tremendous talent but his repertoire seems to be limited to the traditionally structured folk ballads that he writes and plays so well.
Part of Dylan's talent is his ability to absorb a diverse range of musical styles, be it folk ballads, the blues, country, jazz, pop standards, rock and roll and psychedelic music. Kristen Mattson is only 27 years old and he may well expand his musical horizons as he develops as a musician. But keep in mind that by age 25, Bob Dylan had recorded 8 diverse albums of music, and each album was remarkably different from the previous one; & 6 of those 8 albums still regularly make the lists of the "all time best" albums. The Tallest Man on Earth may be tall, but he will always live under the long shadow cast by Bob Dylan. |
