@missP : you were at that concert? That´s great! I presume Bana Hediye is a crowd favourite, then? I was going to check out some more of Pinhani´s live material, but as you see, I´ve just dropped everything in favour of Grindy´s recommendation!
Glad you liked it!
I also really recommend the album "Genclik Ile Elele" by Mustafa Özkent, it's pretty much in the same vein.

Throwback!

One of the most famous old Turkish rock songs ever. And yes this is considered rock in Turkey.

^ That´s not a bad bit of soft rock, misspoptart - pretty gutsy and hard-hitting compared to Pink Floyd these days!

^ Yes, that Mustafa Ozkent album is great, grindy, and thanks to your first tip about Bosparus Bridges, I´m now exploring the marvelous sound of Okay Temiz:-

I´m not recommending that you explore Cengiz Coskuner´s entire and extensive discography - too much of it is too cheesy, and he is presented in a way that is unfashionable, even laughable, by today´s standards. None the less he has a great mellow tone to his guitar - what a pity that so few of his songs are instrumentals. Has this guy ever been dubbed the "Hank Marvin of Turkey" ? On the strength of this track alone, I think he should be:-

Hey, welcome to MusicBanter, Sartre! It´ll be good to have a Turkish guy to help us with this thread again, because as far as I know Simpleman has stopped posting here.

That track by Sebnem Ferah has a great introduction!

PS I´m guessing your user name is for Jean Paul Sartre, right? I´d be curious to know which language you have read him in.

Thank you Good to see someone be interested in Turkish music.
I'm sure that Simpleman will go on with share of Turkish music soon.

I'm glad you liked Şebnem Ferah. If you take an interest in her, I'll share her some songs.

PS response: Exactly, my user name is for Jean Paul Sartre. I like his writings. I have read my vernacular, in other words in Turkish language. His writings mostly translate to Turkish.

I'll continue to share.

"Şebnem Ferah (born 12 April 1972 in Yalova, Turkey) is a Turkish singer, song-writer, composer, and guitarist. She was the lead vocalist of the all-female hard rock band Volvox[1] until 1994, after which she went on to pursue an illustrious solo career. Her music style varies from pop rock to hard rock though her later albums have progressively incorporated more of the hard rock sound." (Wikipedia) I adore Sebnem Ferah. Her songs are meaningfull and touching. And her scream is steal my heart. Enjoy.

I regulated this post. I'll repost rest of post, as separately. Thanks for notice, misspoptart

I've been here for 5 years, evet Turkçe konuşuyorum zaten! Yes, I work in the IT/media sector. The real reason I moved here was for the people, though I met some amazing Turkish people/families and I really fell in love with your way of life. You can see the kind of music I like in my other posts!
