When you consider that they're not lizards but a descendant of reptiles that is related to birds then ****ing yes. The dynamic history of evolution is mindboggling.

But on a pure level, holy **** ****ing god they're an entire race of dragons of all shapes and sizes that were you able to see them irl would be among the most preposterous, amazing things it would be possible to see. I imagine that extinction events probably destroy the megafauna first and leave the smaller animals alive. Dinosaurs existed for well over a hundred million years and survived two extinction events before finally dying out. Then mammals evolved to holy **** **** levels before, what, one or two extinction level events happened that destroyed much of the biodiversity on the planet and we're kind of living in the early stages of the planet rebuilding our crazy ****ing megafauna? I suspect that if you gave the planet ten million years we'd have yet another set of animals that would put our current set to shame as far as being really ****ing cool.
