Depends on whether you bring it back or not. Goddamn veterans with their prosthetic limbs!

^ Thanks! Two new phrases for me. I hope I get to use them before I forget them.

I would also avoid joining the army if at all possible, so I can't really criticise Trump for that, but if you learn that about yourself, that you are a coward when it comes to fighting for your country, I think you should be careful how you talk about soldiering and patriotism thereafter.

With Trump's history he shouldn't be bullying NFL players to display greater patriotism imo, and he certainly shouldn't' ve said the following:-

About POWs: "I prefer soldiers who aren't captured"
About a guy killed in action: "He knew what he was signing up for."
To soldiers fighting ISIS: "“Everybody’s talking about the progress you’ve made in the last few months since I opened it up,” he said.“They weren’t letting you win before."

These comments all have the effect of trying to disregard or belittle the efforts and sacrifices made by serving soldiers.

^Thanks, elphenor! I would've said that if I had a better grasp of the details. :thumb:

Everybody should just commit suicide to save themselves before society collapses, this is the end. You're better off dead than being alive when cannibalism begins to take hold. There's simply no way that we can overcome these mean tweets.

You go ahead: I'll be right behind. Honest.
:shycouch:

By the way, is that genius or accidental pun? Mean tweets/mean streets?

Frownland 05-26-2018 05:45 PM

Sure, I mean whatever joke that was.

Then he should STFU about the NFL. He recently said that a player that kneels should be thrown out of the country. Yet, he's often in the past praised peaceful protests.

Funny that The Star Spangled Banner was written about a bunch of war criminals bombing the **** out of another bunch of war criminals.

And the flag at games is usually held (in a disrespectful way) by a newer crop of war criminals, while a bunch of older generation war criminals wear their war criminal hats, pin, and jackets in the crowd with tears in their ewyes.

That's quite a false equivalency mate. I'm not saying that it isn't a dumb opinion to have because nationalism is for dimwits, but having a fetishistic respect for the flag doesn't require serving in the military.

Anyway, how long have you served in the military my dude? What did you do when your "number came up"? Because if you didn't serve in the military then you're not allowed to have an opinion on this I guess. Your rules, not mine.

You're starting to catch on. Next time you should mention that it was written by a lawyer who fought to imprison abolitionists.

Has anyone in this discussion served? In war times?
