True. MLS is trendy right now and fun and people are showing out for games. But like compared to football there’s no comparison. Everyone at work knows who won and who lost every top 25 college football game the previous Saturday. On Monday, everyone knows if there were any upsets in the NFL. Just for conversation with a coworker there’s going to be a good chance they don’t even know MLS is a thing.

I still think Bat is too dismissive of 50,000 plus fans making it to the games but other countries don’t get how sports crazy America is. I’ve compared soccer in Europe to college football in America. The numbers of fans who make it to games consistently in America are much higher than soccer in Europe. If MLS totals 1% of what football is here that’s still huge. Counting high school, college, and NFL and how woven into our cultural fabric football is 1% of that is huge.

Thanks Hawk.

Re: first bit I wouldn't even argue against that because it would be ridiculous. But like you say Charles is being too dismissive.

He gets very anxious and offended by this. I don't know why.

I get where Bat's coming from though. I never see or meet these illusive soccer fans.

I think it's dumb as all ****ing **** to tell me how popular soccer is in America when absolutely nobody, not anybody, not a single ****ing person in my life of people who legit care about sports ever ever ever ever ever even mentions soccer. And if I were to ask them about a soccer game they'd probably look at me funny. Like, why is this guy talking to me about some game that doesn't matter outside of... wherever the hell they play soccer.

I think you're just an idiot who needs soccer to be popular in America.

He trolls you on it. I wish I knew more about soccer. I’m with you it’s a great sport. I mean obviously that doesn’t need to be said. By far the most popular sport in the world. And in America MLS is drawing big crowds. That’s awesome. Why wouldn’t we want a successful soccer league. It’s a great thing.

Back to the mail bomb fiasco, the Secret Service screens all packages addressed to persons under their protection.

The U.S. Postal Service does not deliver mail directly to such individuals [i.e. the people who cliam to have gotten mail bombs], but rather re-directs it to the Secret Service to screen it. If such individuals DID get mailed such bombs, then the Secret Service would have intercepted them first. So, more food for thought.

Can you tell me why the American public at large and his numbers don't seem to align? What the **** is going on? My theory is that a large number of Hispanic immigrants are finally making themselves unwanted.

On the other hand, Real Salt Lake really does have a foothold in the community out there. For such a relatively small population (no offense) Utah represents with The Utes, BYU, and the Jazz. Plus, Utah State is getting some buzz this year. On top of all that Real Salt Lake, too.

Claims nobody cares.

Third most attended sport.

Why do you think I want it to be popular in the US, just out of interest? (You are wrong BTW.)

Dude- MLS is kicking ass making it a great experience for fans. Sure lots of hispanics are into it but their bread and butter is still white surburbia. Tickets and food and parking are a little cheaper - the fans like the product- and they’re packing the stadiums with knowledgeable enthusiastic fans. Why does that piss you off?

Yeah, I know it has to be big when we make an official beer for it, but I just don't ever meet these soccer fans.
