here's a great recipe for a peaceful country:

1) conquer large parts of the middle East
2) carve out a small sliver of that conquered land and forcefully import hundreds of thousands of Jews, a group which is already disliked in the region, while displacing the local population.
3) allow the Jews to take over the country, giving a small and disjointed parcel of land to the original inhabitants, while not allowing them any ability to form a true nation state within said small parcel of land.
4) continually expand slowly but surely into said small parcel of land, and then cry victim whenever the locals launch a terrorist attack

^ I agree with elphenor that a two-state solution would have been the fairest option, but as you suggest, there's a fundamental topographic problem: either, as now, the Palestinian areas are cut in two, or the Palestinian West Bank is connected to the Gaza Strip and Israel is cut in half. :(

But Israel wouldn't be up for that either, and Gaza is hardly in a position to be a well functioning or prosperous state on its own.

I say we threaten to clone Hitler if Israel doesn't make friends with the Palestinians.

Fundamentally what Israel doesn't want is any new military forces to be reckoned with in the region.

They're already surrounded by militaries of states that hate them.

Hence why the entire Zionist project is not well thought out.
