Even in a society that was more communal in some way, I don't see people throwing away their desire for convenience. Like, ever. Nobody wants to be stuck farming all day or "doing their part" for the community or hunting. They'll want to research, do music, be artistic, or just explore freely without worrying about food supply, water supply, transportation, etc. Therefore, we need robots.

Maybe. And in a society where everything is ran by robots we could only be communist or socialist. Capitalism would die because look what happened to Detroit.
Edit: And that's a reason why I liked Yang and I know it's a reason you like him too. He actually thought about how automation is going to take over the work force. |
