Serious question. Why did the Roman Catholic Church promote that image of Jesus in the first place?

Maybe the world would've been a better place if they hadn't distorted what Jesus probably really looked like???

Probably because the common image of Jesus was created by a bunch of ignorant people who had never seen an Arab and thought everyone was white. I've seen pics of the Mongols in paintings of Marco Polo's adventures that makes them look blonde haired and blue eyed.

Well yeah, but as far as I know the ancient Jews and Arabs were racially identical, or at least very closely related. So I just used Arab as an easy visual reference.

i guess so. both are 'children of abraham'? even still today, the mizrahi jews look pretty much like 'arabs' exactly. and the jews from egypt, morocco, tunis, algeria. its just ashkenazis who look like europeans cause they mixed a lot with them.
