^ Well, not in a list of things America can take some pride in, no. In an analysis of how art can grow out of atrocity, yes.

^ Not sure how to respond to "Yikes" as a debating point, elph! Luckily, I'm off to work now, so don't have to explore the morality of the Marshall Plan, which tbh, I don't know much about apart from what they told me in High School. :shycouch:

No, but it's pointless whining about what you are talking about when you have centuries of history prior to America where civilizations were built on the oppression, enslavement, whatever of whoever happened to be there before. Nothing happens in a vacuum. Does Rome ring any bells? How about the Mongols? Domestically, the Aztecs and Mayan civilizations were into some bad **** as well. Are those cultures devoid of merit despite the millions that suffered?

If you want something practical out of this, I'd recommend appreciating the fact that if diversity didn't matter in America, you wouldn't have multi-billion dollar companies and organizations pushing messages about toxic masculinity, the "evils of white nationalism", lots of imagery of mixed race couples, etc. into the mainstream or making Colin Kaepernick the face of an ad campaign that spent millions upon millions to reach a lot of people. Going by all that, I'd say diversity and the desire to perpetuate it is alive and well.

Blacks are rude, immigrants who can't speak good English are annoying, white guys who like hop hop are "unsophisticated" (see: too pussy to say dumb)

More wisdom from the fountain of wokeness that is elphenor

You really should just move to Denmark. Lots of free stuff, over 86% white, most likely a punk scene somewhere or atleast a few Evanescence cover bands. You'd love it. Just be careful where you shoot up because, you know, laws.

Plankton 02-07-2020 08:00 AM

Bring it in guys. Group hug.

Anteater 02-07-2020 03:50 PM

Cody should run for President. Or maybe work at Vice. How about both?

Lucem Ferre 02-07-2020 03:52 PM

No to both.

You totally forgot how the American Indians battled with and killed off the race of giants that live on the continent before they arrived.

jwb 02-08-2020 11:21 AM

Anytime I hear the word Aztec the first thing that comes to mind is a ****ty Mexican gang tattoo

DwnWthVwls 02-08-2020 11:22 AM

It's cool how all the people who care about the Native Americans lump them into one group as if they didn't vary widely from tribe to tribe.

jwb 02-08-2020 11:27 AM

At least I differentiated between them and the race of giants that lived on the NA continent. I doubt if all tribes battled them, but many of them have them battling with the giants in their folklore - or so I heard.

Anytime I hear the word Aztec the first thing that comes to mind are cameras. This is a music forum, I don't think I have to explain why.

Frownland 02-08-2020 11:31 AM

Anytime I hear the word Aztec, the first thing that comes to mind is usually related to the context that I heard the word in.
