There's groups of people who I will always comply with and be respectful of, regardless of the circumstances.

Doctors.
Police.
And since 9/11, Airline employees.

Take the cash and free hotel room rather than trying to "win" in that situation.

Not a healthy way to approach your rights being violated. Give em an inch and they'll take a mile.

I forgot to add people who serve me food.

Cop wrongfully pulls you over for whatever reason. You have two options.

a) act like a dick

b) act with respect

I choose B.

Surely an airline should be more concerned with keeping their passengers ie customers happy than their staff? I mean, if this was an emergency, someone needed to get to hospital etc, sure, you would expect the guy to give up his seat. But for a ****ing worker at the airline? Someone whose salary, at this point, he is paying or at least contributing to? Don't understand. **** United Airlines.

Yeah except you aren't a dr. that has the important job of getting to his patients on time by the morning.

California's Senate passes sanctuary state bill - CNNPolitics.com

This is a terrible move. While the intentions behind this is great in that it keeps people safe who wouldn't go to the police out of fear of deportation, it swings too far in the wrong direction by wasting tax money on imprisoning violent felons instead of deporting them.

So then youre perfectly fine with someone being grabbed and dragged off of a plane because they paid for their seat and wouldn't move? Also police don't deserve respect. They have to earn it like the rest of us. I won't openly be a dick to them but I also don't feel like I should be forced to respect someone because of their uniform.

Your default state should be respectful, to everyone, until someone abuses your respect or trust.

To do otherwise makes you the dick you're trying not to be.

It's my understanding the states are not supposed to set immigration policy. So wouldn't using state resources to enforce federal law be a similar breach of federalism?

Sources for my understanding (first four links): https://www.google.com/webhp?sourcei...gration+policy
