What's a penis worth? $795,000, according to a court ruling.

The court in Bucharest, Romania, ordered a doctor to pay that amount in compensation after surgery that went horribly wrong.

The Romanian surgeon was ordered to hand over the money to a patient whose penis he accidentally severed during a botched operation.

The court was told that in July 2004, Dr. Naum Ciomu made a surgical error while operating on the man's testicles, severing the penis instead of making an incision to the testicle.

Bucharest Magistrates Court ruled in July 2008 that Ciomu had been superficial in his approach to the operation. They ordered the fine and also handed Ciomu a one-year suspended sentence. The court's ruling can be appealed.

The court heard how a piece of muscle from the victim's arm has now been attached to where his penis was. But its function is purely aesthetic.

The man's lawyer Mihai Olariu said: "You don't have to be an expert to realize that the 33-year-old victim does not have a good state of mind."

Just in case y'all menfolks were wondering just exactly how much the family jewels were worth!

Talk about the UNDERSTATEMENT of the century... (last line)

A Medal of Honor recipient in my area: Medal of Honor presented to family of a hero

For your British information, the Medal of Honor is United States' highest military decoration. To put this into respect, there have been around 3,500 total recipients since the American Civil War and FOUR during the war in Iraq.

I didn't realise this was a transatlantic competition.

Your point is?

A hero, indeed!

i liked that that story included quips from his friends and family ~ sort of lets you know a little more about him than just his name.

Thanx for the link, Sam!

I was joking. But if it was a competition, we would have won. ;)
