People make too big a deal about it. Espicially my aunt who is the epitome of 'Think of the children!' and is for banning every gun except a bright orange handgun with a 3mm caliber and crooked barrel. And my dad's cousin who I swear acts like he was born in the 1800s.
It's not just the right to own guns, taking away something like that is a serious infringement on individual rights, just because it doesn't directly affect you doesn't mean you should dismiss it.

If people collectively think that. And people collectively think it's a HUGE issue, so I am not concerned.

Yeah, I don't dismiss it. It's a real issue happening but since it doesn't affect me I don't really have an opinion on it.

For example, say politicians tell you aren't allowed to grow Peruvian death peppers (a la The Simpsons) and people feel it's their basic right to grow it because right to property and their is a huge argument. Since you never plan on growing them it doesn't affect you.

No idea. He should be losing by a healthy 10 points given their position in the political spectrum but their neck and neck. You have a better idea of knowing after the first debate, but right now who knows.

However, given the economy and everything I keep reading about McCain's knowledge of it, we're pretty much screwed if he wins.

He's admitted he knows little to nothing about Social Security but claims its "ghastly."

His economic council is apathetic and in the pocket of big business.

His belief in Reaganomics at this juncture will prove more disastrous than the housing market and Bear Sterns combined.

John McCain's surrogate was saying it was a 'mental recession' and he wanted America to just 'suck it up.' Normally I'd just say whatever that can't really be McCain's thoughts on the subject (because dismissing the economic climate of America as in our heads would be idiotic) but I saw a heavily sugarcoated speech he gave later which basically said the same thing.

He has no thought on the subject is the problem. Not every problem needs to be mastered by the executive, but his cabinet ought to know something about the issue. Phil Grahm will likely be his econmic council. if thats the case, we're in for Depression era failure.

As much as I would love to see an Illinois senator as the president, I don't think that the results of Obama becoming president would be so beneficial to the nation. Hypothetically speaking, African-American reaction to his win might be pretty crazy, at least in inner cities. When Harold Washington was elected Mayor of Chicago, crime increased and public transportation came to a halt because of his inabilty to gain the support of white city council. Imagine this scenario on a larger scale involving the senate and congress versus Obama. Despite their best efforts to convince people otherwise, anyone with a brain knows that Washington is one of the most racially charged cities in America. Public reaction might not be so docile as people predict.

Conversely, I am in no way advocating the election of McCain. What do you think other countries would think of America if we had the Crypt Keeper as our president? He looks like he's about to ****ing disintigrate.

Obama is going to have a lot of trouble getting the support of the Clinton fans. Honestly he should have chose Hilary. Hilary is in prime spot for 2012 (if obama looses) / 2016 election years. Hilary could say she supported McCain and all her followers would support McCain, the democratic party wouldn't condemn her for it, because the democrat power houses/ money makers are all Clinton supporters.

Frankly I don't think Obama can win (THANK GOD). He has the most liberal voting record, borderline communist. Hamaas, terrorist organization, has openly come out and supported him. He also went to the church of Jeremiah Wright and won't condemn the man for saying "God Damn America" yet a year earlier he condemns Imus for making racial comments at the texas (Texas i think) women's basketball team. Talk about a hypocrite. Besides that Obama has said he will break international law to meet with communist leaders around the world.

Need proof? No Hussein

If you're posting in the music forums make sure to be thoughtful and expressive, if you're posting in the lounge ask yourself "is this something that adds to the conversation?" It's important to remember that a lot of people use each thread. You're probably not as funny or clever as you think, I know I'm not.

They typically are and will continue to be without major reform. It's a class issue and Democrats and Republicans ultimately both fall on the same side of that struggle.
