Since kids thrive on attention, negative or positive, it's best to only give them positive when they deserve it, and none when they don't.

That being said, I'm not opposed to a whack on the bottom or a hand tap or something, as long as it's not actually harming them too much..
Like shock collars with dogs.
They don't necessarily harm the animal too much, just a little jolt to remember not to go in that direction.

I work with kids. Hitting just messes them up. Teaches them that it's acceptable to hit other kids. Very annoying. Kinda makes me want to hit them, but I digress...

I think it is acceptable to spank a kid on his but or slap him in the mouth...but not to beat him in the face with a extension cord or anything liek that. but you knwo there are soem bad ass kids out there that need to be slapped aroudn so i picked acceptable

I agree to a certain extent. I think the more intelligent ones should start producing. I think Bobby-Jo from SC has **** out another kids for the entire south. Maybe Bill Hicks donating some sperm. I can only hope.

I think it's perfectly fine for a parent to inflict pain on their children as a last resort of getting through to them. Of course this needs to be done strategically... the "wait till your father gets home" method isn't a good way of going about it. If too much time passes after the bad behavior, then beating the child is useless as they most likely won't directly connect the punishment to that beating and will eventually be bad again. If you are a good parent and have patients to take the time to raise your child to realize when they are bad by using "a look" or words and that still doesn't work... then I say slap the little brat. If you are a cowardly parent who rather neglect their kids and just beats them for any little thing before trying other methods, well... then you are an abusive prick and deserve to go to jail and/or have your child taken from you.

There is a difference between proper discipline and improper abuse... as long as the parent is using the appropriate methods in order to raise their children, I say the government should stay the f*ck out of it.
