If you think its wrong thats fine, but I'd like to know why.
He's been stating why, and all of his reasons have been refuted with, "but the male has just as much responsibility under the same circumstances." Everything else he's responded with, basically, "I don't know, it just feels wrong to me." That's why he chose to take a few. We didn't call him a sexist a force him to step down : P

I think breaking free of normal evolutionary patterns is unnatural. I can handle it to a certain extent, but it reaches a point where either the children or the father has to suffer for the woman to break free of her natural biology. However unnatural raising young children may feel to some women, I would think it feels just as unnatural to men, if not moreso. But I still do have to give this some thought.

People seem to have a fundamental ignorance when it comes to evolution (as the above post shows.) It's devolution to continue living like animals when you've been gifted with a higher intellect that allows you to form and participate in a liberal society where all it's members can be treated equally (we don't live in that sort of society obviously but it is something to strive for.) This idea that we should continue conforming to past standards in the name of evolution isn't just stupid it's anti-humanist.

I actually find khfreek's opinion of women in the workforce extremely sexist, but for the sake of argument I'll leave my personal feelings about his statements out of it.

My main opposition has to do with the fact that you take offense to a woman continuing her career when she has a child. I agree that if you do undertake to have a child, you SHOULD be able to devote enough time to raising them, and I also think that a child should not be brought up with nannies and day care never knowing their parents.

Take a look at that last word. Notice I said parents. Plural. A man has JUST AS MUCH responsibility for how his child is raised as the mother of the child does. A woman should not have to quit her career, and put her personal ambitions on the shelf when a child is born simply because she's got the plumbing to feed the kid for the first stages of it's life. There's a lovely little invention called a breast pump. Through that magic, a child can get the nutrition of breast milk without the actual tit. Wonderful invention for a man to be able to spend time taking care of HIS child no?

You seem to have forgotten also that women have other reasons to work aside from financial need. Not once did you mention the possibility of a woman not wanting to sacrifice her career for the sake of being there for her kid 100% of the time. From a personal standpoint, my career is my life right now. I have many, MANY interests outside of it, but for the moment, it is my number one priority. I don't plan on having kids for another 15 years or so at least, but I can see a distant possibility. If and when I do have kids, I know that I will never stop working in some capacity, because I absolutely love what I do. It's a huge source of enjoyment and fulfillment to me, and to suggest that the only reason women need careers is to fill in the financial gaps that their husbands obviously more important careers have left is insulting.

This all begs the question though what exactly is the point of life beyond reproducing? There's no room for intellect in that philosophy or really anything beyond sex and eating. In fact when talking about that I hate to use the word purpose because it implies that you're moving towards something, in reality all you're doing is keeping the human race going for another generation and there's no purpose in that just a senseless continuation.
Every mammal thinks past reproducing... In fact without researching it i would say most animals..

much smarter than them??... Yeah we are, but we have just found more efficient ways of communicating, eating, sheltering, being mobile, entertaining,(mammals only more than like it) etc.. These are all things that all species would do if they had our intellect.

But they are only instinctual things at that..

Ok so by your logic we should be absolutely happy in our strictly biological gender roles. Women should accept their roles as homemakers and child rearers as that is what they were biologically built to do.

Well lets extend that thought to men, in a show of equality. Men were not built to sit at a desk in a corporate office to make their living. They were built to go out and hunt down a wooly mammoth and bring the bloody carcass back to the home to feed the family. So, all those men out there had better abandon their careers, find themselves a shotgun and some good camo clothing and get at it.

Your logic seems pretty absurd when it's applied to men doesn't it?

Jibber...

I was talking about evolution, we have made great strides in this without changing our physical form much allowing us to stray away from our natural responsibilities... This makes gender roles non existent..

Its evo sleepy,

We weren't gifted with barb, stinger, venom, size, etc.. Our gift is our brain, our weapon is critical thinking, and that critical thinking is what will more than likely kill us all .. Once again I will say that we still have limitation. Our doom? more than likely it will be a selfish one ...
