That said, is it that hard to do? Do you have a reason not to? Just one of those people that prefers to be against the trend for the sole purpose of being against the trend? |
I'm hoping some of you are making these posts just to play devil's advocate or to get a reaction from some people. Are you really that self-centered where you can't remain silent for one minute while the people around you reflect and mourn over a tragedy that obviously is effecting the vast majority of the people in attendance.
I would think human decency would eventually take over and make you realize just how childish your argument is. It's not people are asking you to observe a moment of silence after every death that happens. If something truly tragic happens (which seems to be happening more often these days), then people have the right to a moment of silence. If the sporting event or whatever wants to hold a moment of silence out of respect for those lives lost and the families in grief then they can do that. As a human being, I'd advise you to just STFU and deal with it. The sad thing is, out of all of us it sounds like you are the one who needs the self reflection the most. |
Yeah, it's just a sign of respect.
Like shaking someone's hand, or waving hello, the actual action doesn't technically mean anything, we just put purpose to it. Is it worth complaining about? |

Similarly, people who won't abide by 'moments of silence' shouldn't be made out to be pricks that are blatantly disrespecting the dead/tragedy/etc.; they're just disregarding the inane ritual itself as meaning anything. |
"In my school" should rule out everything you've said. How old are you?
What do you propose people do during a moment of silence if they don't want to speak? |

The point was that this idea of a stupid thing being presented to kids as rude at an early age is just silly and perpetuates useless customs. Quote:

I can't believe the amount of 'omg ure so self-centered 1111' posts in this thread, thats certainly not my reasoning.
