They don't have to get married to receive this; a simple living will would accomplish the same thing.

In order to marry, you would require from gay couples that they can reproduce, yet we do not require heterosexual marriages to produce children or even be able to. If we had, I could've seen your point, but we don't - and I don't feel like society should redefine marriage to require reproduction.
Indeed, as I acknowledged the current system isn't perfect. However, without requiring invasive (and expensive) fertility tests, and somehow magically determining whether or not a couple plans to reproduce, it is the best we can do.

I don't think a living will would allow that to happen. Even if it does, the hospital won't let you into the room until they see it. Its not like they'd have it on file.

And what do you mean by "best we can do." That seems to suggest you are using biology to separate people, not separating people based on biology.

You aren't missing much. It's easily the most overrated movie of the past ten years.

So sad, particularly when Jack was beaten to death after being figured out as gay. I hope that one day soon we all have great acceptance of people who love each other, no matter whether they are gay or straight.

Lol...???????????????????????????????????????????? ???????????

I thought it was agonizingly boring.

Like most films about love.

Pretty much. Even the cinematography was dull, which was quite a feat considering that it was filmed in some very picturesque locations.

When I think of westerns, I usually relate the movie with when I was little. Growing up and either pretending to fight indians or being an outlaw. Even still as a grown up...and I use that term loosley. Its still somewhat of a fantasy when I watch westerns as if somehow I pick out a charactor I would most likley relate to the most. Then think of what it might have been like back then or place myself in any situation the movie might portray. Sadly in this movie at no time did I find anything remotley intriguing or relative to any pipe dream I may of had as a child.;(

I liked Brokeback Mountain. The story it told was touching and I felt the movie dealt with gay love in a serious and elegant way .. except when Jake spits his hand and then lubes up Heath's ass with it.
