Would You be Tempted to try Drugs if They Were Legalized?

For the drugs I've done, the legality doesn't really bother me. My 'fear of getting caught' falls more towards my parents/friends parents etc catching me. I think if marijuana or shrooms or LSD were legalized, my parents still wouldn't want me doing it.

Also, I wouldn't do meth or heroine if it was legal. Because I'm not an idiot.

Definitely not. When I do drugs the fact that whether or not they're illegal doesn't even enter my mind. Instead, I think in terms of what the side effects might be, for instance legalizing heroin would not increase the likelihood of me trying it because it could completely fuck me up.

And I think people could only put "too late" if they've tried practically every mainstream illegal substance.

For me, no, not really. I don't do drugs now, and I don't see a reason to start, really. With that said, I think it's ridiculous that they're illegal in the first place. I mean, black jack is legal, guns are legal, alcohol is legal, it's not like we're not exposed to things that will hurt us, or each other. Might as well stop wasting government time, and money on it.

That doesn't make sense...
The "too late" option is for those who've already tried drugs and to whom the main question doesn't fundamentally apply. It doesn't mention anything about having tried every drug. Judging by what's clearly obvious in your post, you should understand and agree with the concept that some folks may not want to do certain drugs for other reasons than their legal status.

I don't see the enjoyment in mental impairment, so I have no interest in trying drugs, legal or not.

I definitely think more people would try illegal drugs if they were legal. They would be easier to access, and there are definitely people out there who haven't tried a drug because of the hassle one has to go through to do so.

I am not anti-legality, though.

It's no so much the fact that it's illegal, but more the fact that you can't get into a decent job or even school without passing a pee-test. Plus the fact that if you get hurt on the job, they drug test you, and if you're positive they can fire you and not pay for ****. The social stigma behind it makes it extremely difficult to be both a recreational drug user and a productive member of society at the same time. Changing the law would shift the social stigma over time, maybe eventually to the point where you could use drugs responsibly and not look like the spawn of satan in Joe Public's eye.

Ah ****. I voted before seeing the too late option. However, I have a couple of friends who say that they would only do drugs, or in their case Marijuana, if it was legal and they were of proper age. If LSD was legal, I would try it in a heartbeat, I've had a couple of chances to take it, same with Mushrooms, although I have taken them once which wasn't as intense as I wanted it to be due to the low dosage, but everytime something comes up, and usually the problem is, the legal status of the drug. Maybe someone doesn't want me to try it...????
Nah, but I realized long ago that Marijuana still has it's time till it even reaches some point of consideration to legalize it, so Illegal or not, it's become a part of my life.

True, but you'd still be in the same boat regarding employment if drugs were legalized. I don't think the workplace would allow their use during employment, more for policy's sake than legality. Most places don't let you drink on the job for the same reason, and alcohol is legal.

Yeah, but that's on the job. It would be pretty obvious if you came in to work drunk, and they wouldn't like that. But that doesn't mean you can't drink at home.

Just thinking on a scale of many years here.
