Yeah but you can still go out and have a few drinks on the weekend without losing your job over it. I'm not saying we should have guys toking up in the steel mill or anything. But people are being fired and denied employment for something they do on their own time, in their own home, and on their own freewill. I think Marijuana should be treated socially very similar to alcohol. Where occassional social use is accepted by the general public, both socially and professionally. But excessive use is still viewed as a problem that requires action.

I hear ya.
There would probably have to be a change in policy and the way companies define impairment if drugs were legalized. As it stands, you can get fired for having trace residual amounts of a substance in your body when there's actually no longer any physical 'impairment'.
Even still, I know a lot of people who partake in a variety of things and still work. But it sure as hell is stress-city for the pot smokers when random urinalysis time comes. Sadly, many of these people relegate themselves to jobs that rarely drug test... which means they often bag my groceries.

I think most people who get busted for drugs (personal use type situations) end up in that position secondarily, after stupidly getting caught breaking some other law while in possession of drugs.
Unless you're a high level dealer who's being watched, I don't think a person should have any concern about whether they'll get busted for smoking a joint or something in their basement.

Personally, I think people that use legality as their sole excuse for not doing drugs are actually more afraid/unsure of the drug itself than they are of possible legal consequences. I don't think most functional, intelligent people really think their chances of getting busted are anywhere near as high as let on.

Personally, I think that people are way too influenced by drug hysteria and the media portrays drugs as a BIG ****ING DEAL and makes it seem like you'll die immediately after taking a toke or something. Granted, addiction ****ing sucks, but knowing what you put in your body and experimenting out of pure curiosity is something I think is totally natural and okay. I could care less about the legality of certain drugs, as there are many legal drugs that are the same thing, but manufactured and regulated. Drugs have a certain stigma around them and have for many years that prevents us from learning what they're actually about and what they can do to and for us. Not every drug is SUPER HARMFUL OMG.

Also, I think the fact drugs are illegal adds allure to them, much like abstinence education leads to more ****ing.

I'm not into that stuff, but I do know people who get a thrill out of the fact that they're illegal. Is it the same for other people?

I voted "no" since the legal system hasn't prevented me from doing it on occasion. Prohibiton doesn't stop anyone who's tempted enough which is one reason why it's counterproductive.

The "too late" option is for those who've already tried drugs and to whom the main question doesn't fundamentally apply. It doesn't mention anything about having tried every drug. Judging by what's clearly obvious in your post, you should understand and agree with the concept that some folks may not want to do certain drugs for other reasons than their legal status.
Eh, I think I'm looking at the question/answer more literally than you or something.

The original question was "Would you be tempted to try drugs if they were legalized?" By saying "too late...", you're saying you've already tried certain drugs and as a result can apply your experiences with these drugs to other drugs. However, different drugs carry different sentences, different punishments, and most importantly different social stigmas, not to mention the fact that some are even legal. So with that being said, I don't understand how the "too late..." option would be relevant unless you've tried every drug and are familiar with these different characteristics in a manner that would fall under the category of "too late..." (meaning you've tried them).

I think this is just an issue of semantics though and a pretty pointless discussion.

Easy one, this.
They're legal here.
Not tempted at all.

I would definately try them if they were absolutely harm- and danger free.

I feel the same way.

Though, I've always been curious about LSD.
