I can never understand why neo-liberals like Ron Paul (or libertarians as Americans like to call them) assume that freedom for the individual entails minimal government and maximum corporate freedom. The ability to succeed financially depends just as much on what class you belong to as to how hard you work. The liberty of the individual is no more curtailed by government regulation and taxation, than it is by the shackles of social stratification.

^^^ Enlightenment thinkers, with the notable exception of Rousseau (if I recall correctly), believed property was an inviolable right. Others, such as Smith, believed such Government intervention was harmful to economic growth.

I find these explanations a bit daft; however, the issue of Rent Seeking is very real. The best example of this behavior, from recent events, was the bail out of the banks, particularly in the USA.

The tendency of lolbertarians to overstate Ron Paul's accomplishments is a real problem. Not just because you all think he's the cat's meow, but because you overstate it to such an extent it seems less like you're supporting a particular candidate than engaging in proselytism for the Holy Family of Ron & Rand and the immaculate Gold Standard.

Mind, I say this as a reactionary who favors Ron out of available candidates.... but, seriously, the cultish aspects are creepy.

Republican Party are full of racist bigoted fools who hate Minorities. I meanm they even aliented their original base the Hispanics by accusing them of being bad Americans. Why not get the bad ones and not slam the whole community. If Ron Paul becomes nominee, well America won't be bad but it won't be better. Ron Paul is better than Newt Gingrich who is a Right Wing whore who can't control his penis. If Newt can't faithful to his family, how can he be faithful to AMERICA.
