Just like to point out, Freebase's cat has a twenty-four percent lead on Romney at the moment...! Gooooooooo kitty!

That's because his cat doesn't flip flop! I think the cat is behind Obama because he would eat big bird.

I like his manifesto:

"If elected, I will sleep, sleep, sleep, sleep, sleep some more, wake up, demand to be fed, sleep, sleep, sleep, wake up, catnap followed by proper snooze, sleep, sleep, sleep, wake up, demand to be let out, go out and return when everyone is asleep (and only then) and demand in a loud annoying voice to be let back in, sleep, sleep, sleep, eat, use my tray, sleep, sleep, sleep some more and sort out the federal defecit."

It makes about as much sense as any, though I think he put that last part in as a joke. I'm definitely voting for him.

its confirming that this place has the political compass of a hippie, and would rather be liked than be right.

When you say "right" do you mean right as right/wrong or politically right/left?

Well, you're correct about how political beliefs function as a cultural signifier, but I find much of the general attitude here to be perplexing. On the one hand, there's the great pessimism about the political system of the US, on the other hand, there's general belief that this could be fixed if only ______ party candidate won. I presume they think the Dear Leader will flip a switch in the Congressional circuit breaker or something.

I find this most amusing in the pissing contest between Obama & minor leftist party supporter, mostly because of how it resembles the split between Stalin & less organized Bolshevik groups. Watching Obama supporters try to justify how he went from opposing indefinite detentions to supporting assassinating citizens is very, very amusing.

You could insert any name in the equation and it wouldn't change a thing. Also we keep waiting for BIG3 to enlighten us, but he never talks politics either just keeps quoting Snoop Dogg.

understand, of course, that some folks are beyond reasoning with, what exactly haven't I "enlightened" you on?

Because I will, and generally do without invitation.
