Jodie Foster officially declares that she is a lesbian in a emotional speech

Jodie Foster officially declares that she is a lesbian in a emotional speech. Many people were very touched by her speech.

Watch and follow her

As for me, I was deeply touched by her confession. She was real and I feel she was being geniue. I think this speech is got to be one of the best speeches that I ever heard. I mean everyone was touched. I hope Jodie Foster will be peace now that she has officially said that she is a lesbian.

What is anyone's reaction?

The Batlord 01-14-2013 11:05 AM

Why do I get the feeling that this is gonna turn creepy?

kiekiekiekie. Why so. I am simply asking how you feel about Jodie Foster's speech about officially coming out.

Goofle 01-14-2013 11:08 AM

I am severely lack in care right now, but good for her or whatever.

No problem with me. Let's see other responses.

wiggums 01-14-2013 11:13 AM

Can't help but imagine how much her agents love this.

Key 01-14-2013 11:13 AM

She did it at an award ceremony where she knew there'd be a lot of attention, etc.

If anybody else did it in a public setting like on a sidewalk or at a school or whatever, there'd be people going crazy.

Good for her, anyway.

Goofle 01-14-2013 11:17 AM

I don't think she actually came out. Seemed to me like she said she had already done that. Didn't help that the audio cut out right before her only mention of it.

Cuthbert 01-14-2013 11:18 AM

Pointless. If one's sexuality doesn't matter (and it doesn't) then why make a big announcement stating that you are gay? It is none of anybody else's business.

I have a similar opinion with sportsmen, I don't see why the media are so desperate to finally have their openly gay footballer, it shouldn't matter.

Exactly what i'm saying. If this was done in a less attention public setting, people would be going bat **** crazy saying she's a sinner, etc. But she chose a place that would obviously have more supporters than not.

My favorite part was the look on Jamie foxx's face

confession Franco?....do you feel this harlot needs to be cleansed of her sins?

i honestly think that if you did not know Jodie Foster was a lesbian than you need to work on your gay-dar :)

also she came out years ago this was just the first time she said it on tv in front of a world audience...which i suppose good for her

but like it says above me....if sexuality does not matter and all people should be treated equal...than who gives a fuck?

in all honesty her speech last night was very well done and actually and without pompous intent touched on some real issues these people have to deal with....like privacy and growing up behind a camera.....its a shame that the simple mention of her loving her life partner has over shadowed a great speech from a great actress

Look bob, Jodie Foster never actually came out. She was only assumed to be a lesbian back in 2007 when she mentioned that she was with Cindi whatever her name is. I will say this again, I do not hate gay people. :):).

I already knew she was a lesbian or I assumed so. But this is the first time that she actually acknowledged that she was a lesbian. It is the first time that she said it.

Who the **** am I to judge. Life is hard anyway.

Key 01-14-2013 11:39 AM

I just don't see the reason for doing it at this time. She could have simply done it in a way that was for her family and close friends just like everyone else. This just proves that the people with more power will get more respect than those who don't.

bob. 01-14-2013 11:40 AM

in all honesty she did not say anything different last night than what she said at the 2007 Women in Entertainment awards (when she stated herself as a lesbian)

again the difference here is that this was in front of millions of people

Well I agree with you KI but then again people tend to be happy with you when you come out in front of the big audience.

@bob, she never said that she was a lesbian. She only referred to her ex-female partner.

Um...what? When I came out years ago, I told my friends and family. Not sure why you're stating that as if it's recent.

P A N 01-14-2013 12:08 PM

it doesn't really seem like a "coming out" speech at all. she just said some stuff that was big to her and you kinda just honed in on the gay thing. she said some pretty awesome stuff though, and i'm glad you posted this. not only do i like jodie foster, but i never watch tv or awards shows so i wouldn't have got to see this if you didn't.

thanks franco.

bob. 01-14-2013 12:09 PM

exactly....she did not say the L word last night either

I know that. She never said came out back in 2007 but only she just referred to her ex-female lover. She never said that she was a lesbian but she said now she is officially out (meaning she says that she is a lesbian).

I'd say telling people about a former female lover is basically the same as coming out FPK. I have enjoyed quite a few of her movies but her southern slur voice annoys the **** out of me at times. Quite a gifted actress though.

Accept she was with a man.

So Cindi is a man? If you say so.

No Cindi is a woman. She was married to John Wrinkley I believe before she fell for Cindi.

So she said she was with Cindi in 2007, so that would make me correct for assuming she basically came out saying so? I hate being right all the time.

I know that. But before Cindi, she had a disasterous marriage with a man name John Wrinkley which resulted two children who are Charlie and Kit. She was rumored a lesbian but she never actually acknowledged it until now.

Sansa Stark 01-14-2013 12:51 PM

Because people who are queer/gay never attempt marriage and kids to cover themselves...?

You do make a good point. I bet Jodie Foster was probably straight back then before she realized that she loved women not men. Not sure. Regardless, it is official, Jodie Foster is a lesbain. I wish all peace to her.

Sansa Stark 01-14-2013 12:55 PM

She wasn't straight. She didn't just up and decide to be a lesbian.

Vagina has special powers. :p:

Key 01-14-2013 01:06 PM

I don't think of people as straight anymore to be honest. There is some sort of attraction that people can find in both a man and a woman. We're all curious to an extent.

I couldn't disagree with this more. I've never been curious about penis in my life. Not even on an experimental basis.

Not saying penis directly. I mean the attractiveness of a male. Nothing to do with a sexual attraction.

I still can't get behind that notion. I've never felt any attraction towards a male. That being said it does seem alot more prevalent nowadays for people to be bi-curious so I understand your reasoning.

That's basically what i'm saying. More people have gotten comfortable in being able to express their interest in an attraction of the same sex. It's how it is in my state anyway. There's a lot of my close male friends who have no issue saying that another man looks great be it with their hair, clothing, etc.

My friends are the exact opposite, we are old school and basically don't make any metrosexual comments about anything. But thats what makes the USA so unique.

FETCHER. 01-14-2013 01:21 PM

Yeah but am I right in assuming you are 30+? Meanwhile Ki is around my age. I would say it just the different generations that we grew up in.

I think you would be right in both assumptions. There certainly was a stigma attached to gay people when I was in high school. Not necessarily something I believed in but the World has certainly changed in that aspect.

Key 01-14-2013 01:27 PM

I was going to say the same that Fetcher said. There's a difference in generations, and in the time that you grew up Fred, times were much different and not as open minded as a lot of people are today. That's really why I brought it up, because since this is a current event article, I wanted to at least add in the fact that there isn't a lot of difference in sexuality as their once was.

There's a major difference between an "atrraction" and noticing they're good looking.

Compliment wise....me and my friends we don't compliment each others looks the same way we don't talk about the stock market. How you do your hair much gel you put in your hair or looking good doesn't really interest me. There's a difference between being open minded and turning into a bunch of girls. ;)

That said, I'm pretty reserved when it comes to complimenting girls either. I'm not complimenter I guess...and banter comes more naturally.
