I think that is a very modern outlook now for most people. I like the idea of if I'm dating someone that we take turns to pay for an outing.

I don't know about that, when I think of Etiquette it is more related to actions that go above and beyond common courtesy. It also includes things like knowing the correct utensils to use for each dish and their correct placing at a table setting things of that nature that isn't expected of commoners.

This is what springs to mind for me as well, when "etiquette" is mentioned.

I've noticed that etiquette, manners, common courtesy, and chivalry differ vastly between cultures as well. Chivalry especially, I think.

I think defending yourself is different then hitting someone. I would just hold the said person until they gave up. I had to hold my sisters friend one time because she wouldn;t stop hitting my friend. So i held her down to the ground and blew kisses at her til she started laughing and gave up. The only time i've had to do so, I usually just get between women and let them hit me til they get it out of their system. And I've never had a woman mad enough at me to hit me, surprising I know.

I wouldn't hit someone for hitting a friend either unless they were actually getting their head kicked in.

I would if someone hit me though and I thought I'd win the fight.

I felt compelled to help my buddy out as the girl was bigger then him. She wasn't bigger then me, so I just held her until she gave up. I guess we differ in that I don't want to win a fight, I prefer to avoid one altogether. My fights if you will, tend to be me just hand holding someone and not allowing them to hit me, they grow tired of not being able to hit me and I walk away. You don't have to hit someone to defend yourself.

I'm a fan of this strategy as well. Though I do I have to say I still have a scar across my nose from a time I tried it and ended up getting headbutted in the face for my trouble.

Gotta lower your head a lil earlier Jansz. I had a guy headbutt me at a party once and knock himself out. My head isn't huge its just hard as a rock from lack of brains inside.

I agree with what you're saying tbh. I would be pissed off that someone thought they could do that to me though. I just think that if someone slaps you for example, and you give an equivalent hit back, regardless of gender there is nothing wrong with that. I wouldn't not fight back just because she's a woman.

This guy for example, he could have just walked away, but she is in his face and says "slap me now" and slaps him first. If that was me in the same position I'd do the same to be honest. She is actually taking the fucking piss.

There are plenty of guys that can do that to you. Its called grappling. I first learned techniques in high school from the Jeet Kune Do book by Bruce Lee.
