Just curious! Everyone has their own reasons for going vegetarian/vegan, I guess I should have read through the thread more before coming to my own conclusions I think that's a good reason, myself personally.

Personally I haven't had any red meat since 89. I don't miss it. I'm not some Nancy vegetarian though, I cook steaks for my bros when they come over and even make meat loafs and ****. I just choose to keep that crap outta my body.
My cigarette smoking, cholesterol gorging grandfather shot himself to death in his 90s because his emphysema, liver disease, and stomach cancer had debilitated him for over a decade. That's what worked for him.

I don't much care how long I live but, like you, I'm not going to ruin my health just to consume emotionally comforting poisons. As for bros, I'd rather they keep their disgusting feeding habits away from me. Maybe that's why I don't maintain close relationships very often.

I guess my point is, I'll stick with the carcinogens that I'm forced to consume just by living among human societies, and stay away from the ones that I can choose to avoid. Eating processed meats and, to a lesser extent, GMO foods seems silly to me. Are they really so yummy?

Well I guess it depends on what actually happens after one dies. Something we will never know until it happens. I wouldn't like living that long personally when all of my friends are dead.

I'm quite familiar with this. It sucks too, because I liked processed meats. Mainly smoked ham, salami, and hot dogs (only beef franks... especially if they're very garlic-y). I don't have them very often, but I do like them.

EDIT: After doing some cursory research, I've found you'd have to eat a pound and a half of processed meats a week. I definitely don't.

I read an article that claimed GMOs pose no specific risk to consumers or the environment and are overregulated.

So even if you did eat more than a pound a half of processed meats in a week. You would be fine.

Genetically modified crops are overregulated, food science expert says
