Rape isn't funny, nobody has said it is, so stop pretending we have. Rape isn't funny. Jokes are funny. Pretty fucking simple to be honest mate. It's laughable you can't differentiate between the two.

As to the comment: look at it this way. I can understand some guy at a bar seeing Stephanie and being knocked out by her --- she's stunning, we all know that --- but would your first move be to tell her you want to rape her? Mouth, pussy, it's all the same. Rape is synonymous with force, lack of or no regard for consent, and violence. So what this guy is saying is "You're so beautiful I want to violently assault your mouth?" If he wanted to make the point, why not say "I want to make love to your mouth" or even "I want to **** your mouth"? Why use the word rape? Implies he's gonna do what he wants to whether she wants him to or not. Whether it's a "joke" or not is beside the point: he has this obvious belief that he can do what he likes.
What a load of shit. You're trying too hard and taking this way too seriously.

I still haven't seen anyone accept the fact that they're defending a rape joke/ comment with someone here who has been directly affected by in in the thread. So why are you not insensitive? You've been told, you must have heard, yet you're still defending your stance and not once has anyone said "I didn't mean to offend" that I can see, or even, and I guess I have to include myself here, drop the damn subject in deference to her pain.
Yes I'm defending rape jokes. This bloke wasn't to know! :D It was a shit comment and not something I'd have done but drop the mock outrage please.

Which I will now do.
But you're still all insensitive jerks if you can't see the truth of what I'm saying.
Nope.

Oh, and CB, why are you quoting yourself and then adding a question mark?
Because I'm asking what you think to that post.

So rape isn't funny and jokes are - that's okay. But jokes about rape are funny? That's paradoxical.

No it isn't

Jokes about rape are funny if the joke is funny. If the joke isn't funny, the joke isn't funny.

This does not mean I think rape is funny.

'That was a funny rape joke' is not 'lol, she got raped, that's funny'

Not really. Rape is reality. Jokes turn reality into something else. That's why they're funny. Because they skew reality. If they didn't they'd just be stating facts.

I see nothing wrong with making a rape joke. I'd never tell one around Vanilla for obvious reasons. I'd try not to tell them around women or people I didn't know because of the possibility of hurting them (though not because of offending them necessarily). But if I'm around people I know and have a good handle on their humor then I don't see the harm since nobody is being hurt. Telling a rape joke doesn't incite me to rape and it doesn't make me think any less of the trauma of someone who has been raped, so as far as I can see no harm is being caused and no harm no foul.

The supposed fact that rape humor isn't funny is actually an opinion.

MIND ****.

I said I'd drop it and I am. I've made my point, whether accepted or not. Anyone who thinks I'm "trying too hard" or mistakes my real concern for mock, that's their problem. I'm deadly serious in everything I said here.

In other news...

I don't subscribe to the phrase "Either everything is funny/fair game or nothing is." That's just a weak excuse to make jokes about things you know should not be joked about.

South Park is of course infamous for this, but sometimes they pull it off, sometimes they don't. There's an episode called, I think, "Stan's cup", where at the end, after he has watched his team being hammered by professional hockey players, the kid sick in bed says "no hope" and dies. End story.

Why is that funny, can someone tell me? Why are Family Guy jokes about "dumpster babies" funny? What's the point? There's a certain code of morality I believe comedy should follow, and some things should be off limits. Obviously, few people agree with me on this, but that's how I feel.

As someone said, for a thread about jokes this has given me zero pleasure and no laughs, so I guess this will be the last of my contributions to it. Hold down the applause as I leave, kids.

Oh man I loved both of those episodes. They weren't funny? Damn it. :band:

How is an entire paragraph restating what you've already said "dropping it"?

How about we all just agree that we all have a different sense of humor? There's absolutely no point in carrying this on any further since it looks like we're just running around in circles of each other.
