Aren't there laws holding bartenders responsible for continuing to serve someone who's already had too much? I'm sure a lot of them don't follow the rule because it's easier to take advantage of someone eager to blame generous spending/tips on alcohol, but still. It's a brilliant idea to require a breathalyzer test. People shouldn't be getting wasted in public (it's illegal in itself - public intoxication, that is) in the first place but a lot of people mistake the act for "socializing".

was he under 21 or what? from arizona?? gettin in trouble for less than .08 is almost unheard of otherwise. i will speak for myself and say that if i am out and there is any question i am over .08, even if i am not feelin buzzed at all, i arrange for a ride or walk. but hey if i maybe have 3 beers in a few hours it's likely a close call whether id be legalyl drunk and a breathalyzer would come in handy.

every bartender knows they are servin drunk ppl. its a matter of whether they are visually intoxicated and if they are out of hand in some way. if ya couldnt get wasted at the bar this life would be so much less fun

I'd be terrified to be wasted in public. I don't even like being drunk around people I know. I don't even like being drunk anymore. I'd be afraid that someone would drop something in my drink, or trick me, or follow me or something. I'm just not into that scuzzy business; I don't like being around people I don't know - especially in the presence of alcohol. I assume it's less scary for men (for reasons that I don't have energy to explain, not that it's relevant in this thread anyway). Maybe I'm just weird, but I don't see the "fun" in the bar scene. I much prefer a slow-burning night with half a bottle of wine and a maximum of one other person in my vicinity.

No he was 38 at the time. From California. Its becoming quite common in these parts. Police are trying to deter everyone from drinking even a drop and getting behind the wheel. I hate drinking and driving I always spill my drink so I stopped.

I don't have a cupholder in the car because the console is broken.

I'm always drinking something while driving (never alcohol, obviously) because I'm hooked on caffeine, and can't get through the day without it.

Put that genius to good use! I've gotten really good at driving with one hand but it's not safe at all.

i never have drove drunk. 2 of my buddies got duis in very different circumstances but have lerned from it. one took a wide turn and blew like a .14. the other blew a .28 and had to go to the hospital for alcohol poisoning.

i just thought somethin... what if a bar bought a breahtalyzer (assumin you can buy nice legit ones) and then charged like $5 to use it? prob make so much $$$

bartenders DO cut off people if they start to become belligerent and disruptive.


Also the whole breathalyzer thing isn't necessary. Some bars have ties with cab companies and will call a cab for people so that they can get home.
