Now you're just ad homineming me.

Education and self reliance bad.. bad people bad.

DwnWthVwls 04-20-2018 10:00 PM

I mean idk what you think.. you think personal bootstrapping is meaningless, so i assume you also think taking some responsibility in educating yourself is also meaningless. Why do anything for ourselves if systems are in place to enable complacency? If you're happy with not making changes because they are more expensive short term who am I to tell you you're wrong? I just find you to a be a silly goose.

So how did we discover the importance of education if we werent always educated?

DwnWthVwls 04-20-2018 10:50 PM

So who taught the cavemen? The acquisition of knowledge is inherent in our nature. Systems that discourage an environment which promotes self-reliance is troubling in my mind as it creates complacency and stagnation. People that don't learn from their mistakes continue to make them. Not to say we shouldn't have systems in place which help people, but you seem to take that idea to an unhealthy extreme.

I've mostly been trolling you in the past few comments, but this one is serious :D

Serious question:

Is it possible, in your mind, that more complacency and stagnation might actually be just what we need? It seems to me we need to slow way the **** down.

I don't necessarily disagree. It depends what you're talking about.

OccultHawk 04-20-2018 11:35 PM

I figured you were talking about welfare serving as a disincentive to work so that’s what I’m addressing.

so I don't see this "complacency and stagnation" as much of a problem
Isn’t it a good thing to find a way to opt out of being productive?

Don’t we have far too much productivity?
