That's irrelevant. The difference of opinion here stems from your lack of appreciation for life. It is likely that no one here is going to argue with you that bad people deserve to be punished, but not by death. The example you gave for how you think things should be run is not a reasonable solution for a high functioning long term system. No matter how many people you kill there will ALWAYS be bad people to replace them. Rather than constant bloodshed we should be developing systems which encourage others to treat each other with respect and kindness.

Your Genghis Khan approach is just not realistic in this day and age. I'd rather live in a society that is dangerous and stay away from bad areas (because I'm not stupid) than live safely but in a state of constant fear of being killed if I do something wrong. You're welcome to disagree, this is just my preference given the two options.

you can't just judge a neighborhood by the percentage of black people that live there though you know that right? there his town says its 70% something percent latino. it could be crazy you don't know.

There were reported threats against the Ferguson police force. So Officer Darren Wilson resigned. He still faces a federal investigation, and (as of now) a possible a wrongful death lawsuit. The town of Ferguson also faces Federal Civil Rights investigation due to allegations made against the Ferguson police in general from issues stemming before the incident.

*sigh* No winners to be found here...this is just a mess.

This is kinda hypocritical. You say that you don't understand why people are defending him, and then you defend him. I suspect that you've kind of answered your own question, just read your second sentence to get the answer to your first sentence.

I feel that the kid who died in Ferguson deserved to die. He tries to kill a police officer after robbing a store.

Then all the riots broke out and people are robbing the stores and burning places down. How in gods name is that going to help your case?

Ferguson is a mess

I recommend that you watch the movie "Duck You Sucker!'. It's a Spaghetti Western set during the Mexican Revolution. It has a hell of a lot of problems with it, but it does a great job of explaining riots/revolutions. They're inevitable, because when people are mistreated they eventually will stand up and fight back. Yet they often solve nothing, leaving thousands dead, and the cycle continues once again. Give it a try sometime.

Oh, and by the way, saying that someone you've never met "deserved to die" is a very cruel and irrational thing to do. People might stop taking you seriously when you say things like that.

personally i think hitler deserved to die, but then again i never met the man.

**** like this is always weird. Fact is, cops do get away with things. Things they're really not supposed to get away with. I've heard of kids that got pulled in for drugs and who watched the officers snort or smoke their **** while arresting them. There's some evil in the force, I don't think anyone's denying that. And a sense of protection for the corrupt. You're one of us, will hide you if we can. Sadly this case seems a little uncertain. Judging from the pictures, I kind of have a hard time believing the cop's story. I'd like to believe it was an honest (horrid) mistake but no one besides him and Michael will ever know for sure. And Michael is dead, RIP :(. Ramblin. Uh.

Right, the kid robbed a liquor store. For all of maybe 6$ worth of merchandise. Maybe he assaulted an officer. Maybe he was protecting himself. Maybe he started off protecting himself, and then he was assaulting the officer. But to be shot down in the street the way he was... for what he did... naw, dude. There are way, way, way worse people out there who went down way, way, way more dignified.
