Hes's not considered a socialist for no reason. His plan is pretty simple to understand: tax the rich and reduce war spending. Implementation, of course, is another story (but again, that goes for every candidate).

This is not what socialism is.

Yes, socialism is a diverse set of political structures and Bernie is a Democratic Socialist. But in the US, taxing the rich and "giving to the poor" (expanding social spending) is called "socialism" as a pejorative.

The more extreme your views, the more likely your policies are to **** **** up. I'll take an incompetent moderate over an incompetent zealot any day.

So, how'd ya vote in the most recent elections?

Clinton vs Bush
Clinton vs Dole
Bush vs Gore
Bush vs Kerry
Obama vs McCain
Obama vs Romney

Do tell.

What is this supposed to be about? Pretty much all those people were relatively moderate as far as I can remember.

At the end of the day it does not matter what Bernie thinks because he has no chance. As you have pointed out, only moderates really get the nod for the general election. The tilt to the right in the Republican party is going to kill them because when it comes time to vote, most people are going to agree with you, the moderate is always a safer bet than the zealot.

Bernie is too out there so Clinton will get the nod. I guess I'm willing to take a chance on a zealot to see if things could really change. I don't know if a hard left candidate would make things better but as I see the Koch brothers, Goldman Sachs, etc... owning the economy I'm willing to see what could happen with someone like Bernie. It just won't happen.

As much as the current state of business/government incest is concerned, I'd rather have unpalatable stability than the possible economic collapse brought on by some idealist with more vim and vigor than business sense. Let's have intelligent progress rather than just say, "Hey! That guy I just heard about a few months ago doesn't like the same things I don't like! Let's all vote for him and pray to God he has half a clue!"

And now The Donald is in. Can not wait for the primary debates to begin.
