PC issue of the day: fat shaming

DwnWthVwls 06-17-2015 06:28 PM

I don't feel the need to make fun or shame anyone for something about them I don't like. Not sure what people get out of it. I also think most of the people doing it wouldn't dare say it to someone IRL cause they are pussies.

RoxyRollah 06-17-2015 06:30 PM

Oh yeah?^ Bring it on fatso.^ I'll insult you all night if you ask me too.

DwnWthVwls 06-17-2015 06:31 PM

Are you trying to get me into bed?

RoxyRollah 06-17-2015 06:32 PM

Is that what you're into?

DwnWthVwls 06-17-2015 06:34 PM

I'm into anything that gets me invited inside.. it's fucking hot out here.

RoxyRollah 06-17-2015 06:36 PM

S'part of the plan tons of fun, I want you to sweat off the extra pounds.
BTW the hose is in the shed.;)

DwnWthVwls 06-17-2015 06:46 PM

TY kindly. :o:

RoxyRollah 06-17-2015 06:51 PM

Of course fatty, I don't want you to get heat stroke I'm not subhuman.

John Wilkes Booth 06-17-2015 07:08 PM

ftr i also don't taunt fat people for being fat. my dad was fat when he got older and i felt bad for him.

i tried to represent all portions of the spectrum of perspective with the videos i posted

but while i don't taunt fat people i also think that some people are blurring the lines between having a standard of beauty and striving to maintain decent health and taunting people out of pure sadism

edit - but also ftr i would straight up smack dwnwthvwls in the face and call him mean names cause i'm no pussy.

Being skinny is not a good indicator of health either.

RoxyRollah 06-17-2015 07:32 PM

Listen y'all need to just call yoselves thick. Not fat, THICK.

DwnWthVwls 06-17-2015 07:33 PM

There's a difference... this is thick to me. Still has that hour glass shape, it's just bigger.

weight and health are related though

it's not 'the skinnier the better' or 'the fatter the better' but there is a weight/bmi for each given individual that comes closest to our ideals of health

edit - yet strangely it seems like people who are too skinny are stigmatized as being brainwashed by the media into developing an eating disorder while people who are too fat are given a platter of excuses to choose from

DwnWthVwls 06-17-2015 07:39 PM

Yeh I agree, but I think a lot of this whole fat shaming dilemma involves people who overlook that fact. Lots of people are within a healthy BMI but smoke a ton or don't take care of their bodies and they are in way worse health then someone who takes care of themselves but is overweight.

Also, the BMI scale is kinda whack. I'm 5'11, anything over 180 for me is considered overweight. That's absurd if you have any sort of muscle mass.

The BMI scale is just a simple height to weight ratio. It doesn't take into account muscle like you said. For instance according to a BMI chart I'm technically overweight for my height. But that's sheer muscle mass and my doctor says I could actually stand to put on some weight.

The body needs some fat. It's a insulator and energy source. Doesn't mean you want to be a walking tub of lard though. Also having too much muscle can be considered unhealthy too. But I'm talking the rock on supped up steroids or something.

How Accurate Is Body Mass Index, or BMI?

yea... it's a flawed calculation...but maybe it's a bit more accurate to say there are health-based principles that could determine a person's general health in terms of size based on the ratios concerning how much fat a person is carrying around vs their general proportions (weight, height, girth, etc)

also, this

i definitely think there are muscular men with low body fat who are riddled with health problems

i guess the point is that proportions matter in general

Good post.

Basically people eat ****, gain fat then don't want to take responsibility for themselves.

It's not even hard to lower your body fat percentage.

Being obese should not be accepted, it's not healthy.

Every time I go to the doctor he fusses at me for not having enough body fat. I work out, exercise everyday, and have a high metabolism. Those combined I simply don't gain fat. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a body builder. My arms don't get in my way when I scratch the back of my head.

Cuthbert 06-18-2015 03:44 AM

Enough fat or enough weight?

Has he took your body fat percentage?

Fat. It's like 3% and he'd prefer it tone closer to 5 or 6% because of my metabolism.

Cuthbert 06-18-2015 05:46 AM

Ah right no worries. I was gonna say it must be really, really low if he said that.

Visible abs is like sub 10% and bodybuilders on stage are about 6/7%, how come it's so low? Do you have health problems or anything if you don't mind me asking?

You can tell me to piss off BTW I won't be offended.

High metabolism and very active life style. I mean I get up run 1.5-2 miles, do 3x 25 sets of each push ups, sit ups, jumping jacks, and 2x 25 sets of squats. Plus I lift weights plus PT on post.

have you considered the possibility that your doctor is actually the witch from hansel & gretal?

fiddler 06-18-2015 09:57 AM

Haha when you consider I stand at 6'6 and 210lb you have to ask yourself how does this doc want me to gain fat.

grindy 06-20-2015 03:11 PM

I always just assume you're all fat unless I hear otherwise because stereotypes.

RoxyRollah 06-20-2015 03:25 PM

I just assumed britain uses SI units by now. Stones sound kinda old timey to me.
I guess I just never really gave any thought to british units of measurement.
