Roxy, you are in your mid 30s. That means you were born sometime around 1980 when Reagan first took office. That was the decade of massive financial deregulation. Trickle down economics. Large tax breaks for the wealthy and big business and huge tax increases on the working class. The escalation of the Cold War. Massive military spending - remember Star Wars? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strate...nse_Initiative The start of the complete and utter failure known as "The War on Drugs", a total governmental apathy towards AIDs which led to an epidemic, and the US funneling billions of dollars to fund Islamic groups in the middle east that eventually ended up becoming Al Queda.

I agree, that really was a very different America. I'll take the one we have today over that one.

RoxyRollah 06-06-2016 12:05 PM

Obviously the America Im refering too was in the 90s.

Trump is seriously screwing himself over with these comments about the "Mexican Judge" presiding over his Trump University case.

I get that the judge has connections to La Raza and probably does have a bias against Trump because of his political views, but Trump could have just plainly stated that instead of "he's Mexican, and we're going to build a wall."

The worst thing about this is that he was starting to clean up his speech and rhetoric for the general election, and then he goes and does this. I know not having a filter is part of Donald's appeal, but dude needs to know when to watch his words.

You're under the assumption that this wasn't Trumps plan all along. He knows he's screwing people with the way he's speaking but he does it because he knows people will praise him for it. His out of the box, extreme commentary throughout his speeches has for some reason made an impact on people, and he's continuing to feed off it.

He knew people would cling to his extremist attitude, so he went for it, and now he's the nominee for the Republican presidency.

Chula Vista 06-10-2016 11:13 AM

Well, it didn't take very long after Tuesday for Sanders to start leaning towards Clinton, saying he will do everything in his power to insure that Trump is not the next president. He's concede after the DC primary and then start campaigning for her in earnest.

Did anyone hear Warren's tirade against Trump yesterday? Wow!

Quote:

“Donald Trump says they ought to look into Judge Curiel because what Judge Curiel is doing is a total disgrace,” Ms. Warren said Thursday night in a speech to the American Constitution Society, addressing Mr. Trump’s attack on a federal judge, Gonzalo P. Curiel, based on his Hispanic heritage. “No, Donald, what you are doing is a total disgrace. Race-baiting a judge who spent years defending America from the terror of murderers and drug traffickers simply because long ago his family came to America from somewhere else. You, Donald Trump, are a total disgrace.”

Ms. Warren has not confined her attacks on Republicans to Mr. Trump. She engaged Senator Mitch McConnell, the majority leader, this week on the Senate floor when she tried to single-handedly move to confirm some judges Republicans are blocking.

“The Senate’s job is to provide advice and consent on the president’s judicial nominees,” Ms. Warren lectured as Mr. McConnell was forced to look on, before objecting. “There is no asterisk that says only when the majority leader has an embarrassing political problem or except when the president is named Barack Obama,” she said.

This spring, Ms. Warren, 66, embarked on a long string of ornery slaps at Mr. Trump on his favored forum, Twitter, calling his candidacy a “serious threat” and calling him “a loser.” She also called him out directly in one Twitter message that said: “Your policies are dangerous. Your words are reckless. Your record is embarrassing. And your free ride is over.”

Mr. Trump, whose thin skin becomes almost translucent when attacked on social media, responded by calling Ms. Warren “the Indian” and “Pocahontas” in reference to her disputed Cherokee heritage.

Exactly. I do wonder about the sanity of Trump supporters but people can't act like Trump wasn't aware of what impact he'd have on people from the start. If Trump acted normal, people wouldn't have bothered supporting him.

Chula Vista 06-10-2016 11:24 AM

Remember this from 2012? Listen to the crowd after Wolf suggests whether society should let a person die. Those people are definitely Trump supporters this time around.

Trump was able to find his niche in bigots and people that are upset with establishment politicians. He was the alternative. Same with Bernie Sanders to a degree but Sanders isn't savvy enough as a politician to have won the nomination. This is the reason I couldn't vote for Sanders. I agreed with a lot of his policies but I just didn't think he would have what it would take to actually get much of what he wanted implemented. It would have been a massive struggle in the Senate to get them to back anything he proposed.

That's something I can agree with and even though he won't win, I still respect him a lot for being the voice that people wanted to hear. He made the race for presidency at least interesting and he got to the ears of younger voters, and say what you will, but he's definitely made an impact with how younger voters see politics now. It's changed the scene a little bit, and if that was his primary goal, he definitely succeeded.

Oh you are one of those.

I really don't get why some white people are afraid to discuss race and immediately want to write everything off as race baiting and race "stuff". Is it because it makes them uncomfortable? Are they not mature enough to realize the everyday impact race has on minorities? Maybe they are just inside their own bubble and refuse to see otherwise. Must be nice being white and not having to worry about that race "stuff".

and really? you don't get why white people don't like discussing the whole racething ? maybe cause we always play the villain in that show.

I already told you why it doesn't destroy my argument. The person in the video holds the opinion of others that he is hanging out with and is being brain washed. He can't see the forest through the trees.

That opinion is mostly held by white people. So what if there is a token negro spouting that same non sense.

Nice save Ki.

I am not dismissing their opinion/politics just trying to understand and I really don't get it.

If you think white people are always the villian, then it sounds like you have a bit of white guilt.

Why are we all so hung up on race? I don't care who you are. White, black, or latino. This entire campaign is so stupid. We are so caught up in race that we've forgotten the big picture. That race doesn't matter. Why is it every time someone mentions trumps name race gets be brought into it? Like race is all that's important. Why? Let's look at the supposed reasons as to why trump is a racist. He hates mexicans? Uh.... no. He dislikes illegal aliens. He wants people to come into our country legally. And why would you want someone to come into this country when the first thing they do is break it's laws. That just puts up a red flag if you ask me.

Wow that is pretty bad that you think of him like that. Quite frankly I don't care how you labeled him. So shame on you.

I give him more credit and respect than you do. He thinks for himself and doesn't tow the line of how the mass media thinks he should think.

All Trump supporters are not "bigots" and pointing a finger at the whole lot and calling them "bigots" is a way of tar and feathering them. It's ad hominid attack.

Why do you feel the need the belittle the importance of race? Oh I know why because you are white and don't have to deal with any race "stuff". Oh Trump just dislikes illegal aliens. That's the reason why he hates the Mexican judge that is on the case of his Trump University thing. Illegal aliens come to this country for a better future for themselves. They come here and take the ****ty jobs that no other unskilled american wants to take. They pay taxes through sale taxes, property taxes when they pay their rent and in other areas.

No! I belittle race because we spend too much goddamn time talking about it. This entire thread would come off more intelligent and better discussing what to do about taxes. Discussing the rights and wrong of abortion. Instead you sit here and discuss race. Racism is wrong. That's all that needs to be said. And I don't care what reason you have to come into this country. But if your first action when entering it is to break it's laws, then I don't want the person here. And considering the amount of Americans that are unemployed, I think ****ty jobs would help them out. I don't care if some illegal pays taxes or not. He broke the law, so he shouldn't be here.

The thing is that other things can be discussed at the same time as race or race can take a backseat to other discussions/topics. I have no issue with doing that. All you have to do is talk about whatever else you want to talk about and lead the conversation in the direction of the topics that you want to discuss. You are acting like you can't discuss other things. If you want the thread to be more intelligent as you say. Be the change you want to see and stir the direction of the conversation away from what you don't want to talk about since you are sick of it.

You would think that ****ty jobs would help out Americans but you don't realize how spoiled unskilled Americans are. There is no way in hell they would take a job picking tomatoes for minimum wage or even off the books at a much lower rate.
