I played Germany last year. In my experience, the Axis have to strike hard in the first two turns (winning by the end of turn two is impossible for either side). If Japan threatens eastern Russia, then Moscow has to split its resources between Nazi aggression in the west and making sure Japan doesn't take Siberia. It is essential for Germany to control all of Africa by the end of turn two. Then work on taking the Mediterranean in turn three. After that, you've gotta dump all your IPCs into submarines so you can scuttle the Allies' navy mustering around England before D-Day happens.

I've been so busy with shutting down the company that I've not done jack ****. Fortunately Linda has stepped up big-time. House is decorated really nice, fake tree is up, gifts have been bought and the cards have gone out.

We're doing xmas eve here with Sherri and Scott, and as a bonus, Mike is back in town as of yesterday and will be here.

We all got together last year too and had a great day (even with Linda's broken ankle).

Mike bought a van with his "harvesting" earnings. It's got over 100K on it though so we're getting him an AAA membership and a gift certificate for Pep Boys. Sherri's getting a cash gift certificate that she can use to help with her salon grand opening.

We're gonna go a bit overboard this year and dip into savings since, depending on how 2016 plays out, we might both be unemployed next xmas.

Now I just gotta figure out a meal. Last year was home made bolognese and pasta with garlic toast and salad.

Did ya'll know that I make the best bolognese on the planet? **** off Mario Bateli.

Couldn't agree more. You take Santa out of a kid's life, and they see all this **** on the TV about him and say "Mammy/Daddy he's not real is he?" and you tell them that's right, your kid is surely going to feel either cheated that they can't join in on the fantasy (which is ****ing harmless anyway isnt it?) or start fighting with/ruining the Christmas of other kids. "He's not real!" "Yes he is! My daddy says so!" "You're daddy's an idiot!" Add fist fights, tears, teachers separating fighting kids, warring parents ....

There's nothing wrong in my opinion with making a kid's early years as wonder-filled and joyful as possible. Reality hits all too soon, why rush it?

At the end of the day it's still a lie, and it's all for materialistic gain. You can sugar coat it all you want, but deceit will only breed negativity. It may not manifest itself immediately, but the end result will be of a maleficent nature.
