In Russia I think it was just a disorganized but relatively frequent series of pogroms. In order of pre-Holocaust suckiness-to-be-a-Jew, it seems to be...

1. Russia
2. Germany/Austria
3. France (or so I hear)

That list is open to change.

This should be posted in the Christianity thread. How could a God, who's only supposed son was a Jew, allow such atrocities to occur against his sons' people?

Spain. The Spanish inquisition. While it wasn't a target on any specific religion it was mostly jews that took the brunt of the attack. And if you believe the bible Egypt too.

You've been around longer. Treated like Christians but for a longer time. You are God's chosen people. From your people came Mary and Jesus, the two people Satan hates the most. So, yes, your people will be persecuted more.

Oh, yes. Very much so. The word "religion" comes from the Latin religare, meaning "relationship". In this case, relationship with God.

But I don't talk about it on this board outside the religion threads.

It derives from "religio", which means to read over and over again.

From etymonline:
Quote:
However, popular etymology among the later ancients (Servius, Lactantius, Augustine) and the interpretation of many modern writers connects it with religare "to bind fast" (see rely), via notion of "place an obligation on," or "bond between humans and gods."

It is disputed I guess, but Cicero's etymology makes more sense from a linguistics evolution perspective.
