Nobody has ever wanted to work. We do it cause we have to. But with the pandemic they started giving out unemployment and **** so really a lot of people don't even need their old job.

Quit cutting them checks and see how quick that **** reverses
I have never understood this. Who wants to sit around all day with their thumb in their ass? I've had some pretty **** jobs but I enjoyed most of the 80% of the time, and I could absolutely think of jobs I'd enjoy having.

This is why I think UBI is worth a shot. If it got rid of the deadbeats in the workforce, I'd call it a win.

Then again, who wants to have to wake up at some ungodly hour in the morning to work some monotonous factory job and deal with some crappy boss and some of the politics that goes with just about any job? I think jwb is right, most people won't want to work if they don't have to. They'd rather do something they actually would want to do; I don't think we'd do just nothing.

well that's you.... I think the average person probably wouldn't go to their job if they didn't have to... Lot of bull**** jobs out there

If i could get unemployment from my last job i could supplement that with door dash and selling weed and be just fine... With like way more free time...

That article is specifically about 4 million people a month quitting their jobs.

Did it say how they are paying their bills at all? Admittedly I'm speaking anecdotally about unemployment that's just the people i know who aren't working atm...

I just read it... Ambiguous about what they're doing for income but says it's not unemployment yeah... That's just what i been hearing but it could be propaganda... I just know a bunch of people doing that atm and i can't say i blame them .. i have one friend who has 3 kids and gets a check for each kid. He's staying at a motel for like 400 a week and not even working. If i could get that kinda money without working sign me up.

Like Big3 can say it would just weed out the deadbeats but really i think you're a sucker if you enjoy punching into some **** job every day... If you gave out $1000 UBI i could probably either skip punching in entirely and just do gig work or i could get a small part time job. Definitely wouldn't be working full time unless the pay was amazing.

But it would. You don't have lazy people where you work?

Also, yeah I acknowledge that there are BS jobs, but if you can get 10% of the workforce to stay home and eat TV dinners, the working class will have more leverage. So at least it would pay better and be harder to fire people.

You think only lazy people hate punching in?

The majority of jobs are ****.
