That's been changing for the last 100 or so years.

I can only give you a personal example at the moment. I am an agnostic who comes from a predominant muslim family that mostly follow strict religious guidelines.

My mother is a software engineer, her cousin is a biotech engineer with a masters degree in physics and Randa Jarrar is a successful writer in America who were all educated in the Middle East. So please tell me that 50% of their population are retarded.
Oh ****, I didn't mean retarded in that sense of the word. Bad choice. I meant they're holding back 50% of the population, not using them, not allowing them to achieve their potential. Did not mean to offend, sorry.

I think the humour does work. What advances do you know of that can be attributed to Islamic countries, or at least, hardline Islam-ruled ones in the last 100 years? Compared to what's happened over our side, as it were. I think it proves that while muslims are still stoning women for adultery or wearing the wrong clothes or looking sideways at them, the rest of the world has been more progressive in its approach to everything.
Well you are a writer not a reader so I don't know if I should post something you have to take time to read. You could skip over it and pretend you watched it, write a couple paragraphs about it - whatever. btw I know he is not talking about islam in Europe.

The video, if you watched the video you would know there were sub-titles to read. You asked "What advances do you know of that can be attributed to Islamic countries?" The guy ponders the same sort of question, if you watched the video and read the sub-titles you would see how he answers that kind of question, see his view point of view.

You and riseagainstrocks are missing the big picture elph.

Muslims (the majority at least) cherrypick the Qu'ran in the same way nondenominational Christians do for the Bible. The hard truth, however, is that Mohammad is a far worse role model than Jesus is. At least if you look at both their lives, deeds, and the things they said and did. So while you have plenty of crazy people of all stripes in Christianity and Islam...its a lot easier to point out the inconsistencies in someone who can't follow Jesus's teachings as opposed to Mohammad, who is a more mixed role model.

Muslims needs to acknowledge this and push back against Wahabism collectively. Just like so many Christians outed Catholicism after decades of child abuse brushed under the rug. Otherwise things will play into the Trump narrative with ease.

So what happens after all the Muslims go "No! We stand with Manchester!"(as if they haven't already)? Will terrorism end?

You might be compartmentalizing a bit yourself.

You're confusing God's profit Muhammad (born 570 CE), and Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab (born 1703), the founder of the Wahabism movement.

Lupe Fiasco is Muslim and he's one of the most peaceful rappers out there. To say Islam is the cause is ****ing stupid. People have always used religion to justify terrible things. Like, I don't know, saying that Jesus is a better roll model to justify bigotry towards Muslims.

I think living in desperation breeds more hate than religion. And I hate religion.

Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.

Art Is Dead. Buy My ****.

Amen.

The amount of broad brushing still going on in this thread is mind numbing. I don't know how anyone can take all of the fictional stories in the bible as the truth about what kind of man Jesus was.

The dogma of Jesus should not be confused with the actual history of Jesus, which is so spotty that it's impossible to paint a true portrait of the man.

People do realize that approx. 50 different people wrote the bible over a 1,500 year span? Right?
