I do want the role of a shrink, yes

I just don't trust actual shrinks

I figured you might have something to say since you brought it up

The Batlord 10-01-2019 07:32 PM

Shrug. I've been through trauma bonding and spilling your guts. It's intoxicating but ultimately empty. Either the other person was just an unsuspecting sponge who didn't sign on for this **** or they have their own trauma they need to make bigger than yours.

TBH I think the thing that turns everyday people off the most is actually just how Disney-fied the whole conservationist thing is presented to the public. Just do this little thing that everyone secretly knows isn't that important and you're good for doing everything else that supports the destruction of the world. God forbid you should be honest about just how intense the situation actually is.

This is my main beef with your pov

You aren't content with giving up on life and everything else

You view any semblance of hope as some form of ignorance you wish to stamp out

Once again, misery loves company

Its not pointless though but i can always do more and do better

yea you're right.. there's no such thing as sharing experiences and feedback without an ulterior motive just like there's no such thing as trying to work towards environmental regulations, enjoying life in general, etc

More like I see many forms of hope as self-deception and humanity in general is prone to romanticizing self-deception as hope to the point that the very concept of hope often becomes indistinguishable from self-deception.

Are you seriously going to pretend like you don't know exactly what I'm talking about with mutually parasitic trauma bonding?

you're assuming it's self deception

With regard to the specific issue of environmental regulation, I believe there's more evidence that it's made a noticeable difference in this country than otherwise

We might save some marshes and forests and that's great, but for that **** to be worthwhile we have to not change the very climate of the planet to potentially change the very landscape of those places we think we saved.

You know. You make friends with someone. They have issues. You have issues. You both eventually end up spilling guts about your ****, they spill guts about their ****, you both think you're the best of friends, but in the end you both have nothing in common but bad stories and so you're not actually friends who click on any level.

Either you got lucky or you still think someone is your friend when they're not.

uh huh. All or nothing, in other words.

Which strategy you honestly think is likely to get the desired result... Trying to inch towards All, or just getting accustomed to nothing?

lol

The story I shared with you is my basic story. But I've shared it with countless strangers in sobriety. It's not even close to my deep dark intimate thoughts and secrets.

I don't know. Maybe not pretending as a culture that recycling is a solution to a problem caused by a parasitic capitalist culture that uses recycling as a way of fooling the public that they can change anything without confronting that parasitic capitalist culture. And possibly admitting that the very concept of recycling in that culture is in fact an aggressive attack on truth itself.

Well then I guess you just don't know what I'm talking about.
