This isn't a good point to attach to your views though since like only 15% of forest fires are started naturally(Lightning strikes). The rest are cause by humans either directly or indirectly but not in the crazy ways you're suggesting.

Look man. I'm not trying to jump on the train but why does everything have to be a conspiracy with you?

For the ego boost of "I toda so."

Maybe. My friend does this too. Although not as passionate and "informed" as our bud Merit. He's always the first one to offer another theory on something even when it's pretty cut and dry what happened. I think it's an urge to be different than others. My friend is a great musician and a decent artist. He's always trying to be unique and throw out a perspective that he can really only call his own. That and an overwhelming urge to be correct all the time. It's almost like an inferiority complex.

If you have to constantly stand up and shout "I'm special", well, how special are you?

Frownland 08-27-2018 06:12 PM

Ngl, the urge to be right is a big part of what leads me to embrace journalistic and scientific standards in being a skeptic. But it's also because I don't trust anyone, not even myself. Especially not myself.

If you wanna blame forest fires on anything blame it on fire suppression. These forests are biologically "designed" to burn as part of their lifecycle. Preventing them from burning to protect the surrounding real estate from smoke and minor fire damage has lead to insane fires due to massive understory growth providing literal tons of flammable material.

I can try and find some of the work and calculations I did in college regarding the topic (as related to the NJ Pine Barrens) if you're interested. It has the second highest risk for catastrophic fire in the country behind Cali.

Not everything is a conspiracy theory. But I like to discuss things that are. Like I said in another thread, it would be great for all involved if 99% of the conspiratorial things that I question turn out to be wrong.

I didn't mean it to be confrontational or judgmental. I'm glad you hope that you're wrong about it all. Discussing things is one thing but I feel a lot of people, sometimes yourself, take things WAY too far into left field with some of these theories of what is really going down. I'm not that much of a sheep either. I'm fully aware of the kind of dirty awful things governments/organizations, ours to the umpteenth degree, have done in the past. I just think it's unhealthy to think there's always a man behind the curtain trying to f*ck people.

Not to mention that countless people I've met who claim the government is lying to us and to not believe what you read. I ask them where they came to that conclusion and they point to Youtube and a user named frostedflakes89

*checks behind shower curtain*

Guy with hockey mask and a combover: Yo.

*closes shower curtain*

Yeah, no, he's definitely still there.

Fluoride is extremely bad for you, and it is added to most public water supplies. It has zero health benefits, which leads many to conclude that it is added for nefarious reasons.

Your roommate is gonna shit his pants when he learns about atrazine.
