If you like two Ramones songs then you like all Ramones songs.

Frownland 02-09-2019 03:47 PM

Ja, America made punk corporate, not those snooty Englishmen.

yeah it turned out to be more popular in the UK

but it's not as if Talking Heads weren't going to sell a bazillion albums regardless

The **** did Talking Heads have to do with punk? They were new wave as **** but nobody trying to be punk ever gave the slightest **** about the Talking Heads.

Talking Heads came after Television and Ramones started and let's be honest they were just art school nerds having a laugh. They weren't a real rock n roll band. They were great but they weren't what the early bands of crazy people who were probably about to overdose on heroin were. They were the kind of band Blondie were.

I guess cause Television were a band who were there first, and in 1974 that's important. There were basically a weirdo garage rock band tbh and didn't much sound like a punk band but they had their moments and had a "**** YOU" quality to their approach that was pure punk. If Richard Hell had never been a member then maybe they'd have always just been an art rock band, but Richard Hell was punk before punk was punk, bitch. Indisputably Richard Hell was the second punk. Iggy was the first. Duh.

OccultHawk 02-09-2019 04:34 PM

Just because you like a band doesn’t change history

elph is just saying it like it is

The Batlord 02-09-2019 04:39 PM

I like Talking Heads fine but I'm not holding water for them. I wouldn't even know how. They were just a second wave CBGB's band.
