No. It was Grandmaster Flash was looking to expand hip hop's reach but the only clubs that would book a hip hop act outside of their hoods were punk clubs because they'd take anything that's unique. That was around the late 70s. Blondie was allegedly at one of the first shows out there. That's where that corny collaboration song came from.
