And original Nazi economic policy was to suppress unions and essentially set up a capitalist oligarchy with state support and only mild oversight. The economic policies of the Third Reich probably have waaaay more in common with current American capitalism than they ever did with any socialist state of any kind.

Except for the fact that they were under an intense state of mobilization for war.. which accordingly shaped their industrial output

Very similar to the USA during ww2 except more extreme... And similar to the Soviet Union as well except they were probably the most extreme example.

My friend told me that Pepsi at one point had the largest army in the world because the Soviet Union couldn't afford a Mountain Dew addiction so they traded some of their military for it.

Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.

I mean I could be wrong but my understanding is mobilization started even before the Nazis officially took power

From my understanding the free capitalist dynamic didn't change until the war started not going so well. But I don't know about pre-Hitler mobilization. I do know his mobilization plans were built on previous plans that he took credit for so that could very well be true.

Well I'm thinking about the rise of the SA which was an unofficial way to basically raise a military (via a supposed 'sporting club') without properly labeling it as such since the post ww1 agreements prohibited Germany from militarisation.

And then once the Nazis took official power I'm pretty sure they kept militarizing and pouring money and industrial resources into building a new army, air force, etc. That's basically how they managed to invade (and blitzkrieg) the first couple countries which eventually lead to ww2.

Well I mean yeah but I'm talking about their actual economic framework. I really should read more about it so I can talk intelligently about it on the internet.
