Although I don’t think Ant supports being able to destroy wetlands just because some of it is own your property.

The thing is Ant, everyone should have a say in how the earth is treated not just the people the government claims owns it. We all have a stake in the well-being of our environment. But again, I don’t think you disagree with that. I think your beliefs are too often mischaracterized on here.

I don't disagree with it. It's just when I look at how people treat gravesites, taxpayer-funded facilities in cities or how if you leave your car alone long enough somebody breaks into it, I just think it makes sense that people would want to own at least some property.

As far as the "environment" goes, I think that's a different discussion. Even the act of sitting here and posting has some negative impact on the environment. Fundamentally, we are destroying the environment just by existing, no? Needless privatization is bad, but I don't think you'll ever have a society where anyone wants to forego ownership of some things at the local level.

Elph likes to take every comment someone says and turn it into a Mt. Everest sized issue. Good grief.

Not interested in the bait and switch.

...or, you know, maybe they are just *******s. Mindblowing.

Cars are public property?

Ol' Plymouth Rock was oppressing people, which is why it was defaced. Or something.

Plymouth Rock vandalized with red graffiti ahead of 400th anniversary of Mayflower landing

**** Plymouth Rock

My compliments to the vandals

great point

So if you spent money on an instrument you wanted, put it in your room, then come back later to find your roommate destroyed it because they felt entitled to it, how would you react?

These kind of questions don’t deserve a response because they show how deeply you fail to understand what’s being objected to. Elph can deal with this if he wants but really it’s up to you to educate yourself enough to be able to discuss the issue.

I know what he's objecting to. But I still haven't seen a single decent argument about how you could actually convince people not to want to own things. You could take capitalism off the table completely and people would still place some value on the things they've acquired, built, whatever.

None of us are going to save the environment or dismantle the military industrial complex. You also aren't going to stop watching Netflix or going to the grocery store. So if there's a model where people would actually abandon the concept of private ownership but still have access to all the amenities we take for granted, I'd like to see it.

Bernie needs to get serious and rip apart this Medicare for All who want it bull**** tonight.

Straight up the ACA sucks. They accomplished nothing. The premiums and deductibles are way to ****ing high and the mandate was ****ing criminal. Buttigieg’s plan to hard ass people into paying a backlog of mandate penalties is WORSE than Trump. Biden’s **** where he charged people (including me) mandates for NOT having health insurance or access to care was WORSE than Trump. Their bull**** “public options” are basically the same rip offs we can already buy. Bernie needs to rip the bull**** from the Nevada culinary union because their union health insurance F*CKING sucks. It’s not going to see them through cancer or heart disease and EVERYBODY gets a catastrophic illness so their stupid ass union health insurance is a plan to get old and hand it all over to the rich basically at gun point.

People need to understand. Even if you think your insurance is ok because you haven’t really had to use it yet... it’s not. It sucks.
