Our healthcare system is completely crumbling. People don't realize that the chances of surviving are much worse if you can't get treated. Those of us with out healthcare, like me, are ****ed. If we continue to not take it seriously our hospitals are going to be severely over whelmed and even more will be ****ed.

I'm getting pestered to apply at the Amazon warehouse and I'm split because one working at Amazon during the pandemic is ****ing dumb especially since they are getting mass walkouts do to the lack of precautions being taken and two they pay really well and will offer me insurance.

Edit: They pay really well for somebody like me.

Who’s pestering you?

Lol. If Trump had decided to push for social distancing and lockdowns in Jan/Feb, the media would have just screamed "orange man bad" and called him a dictator for forcing people to stay indoors. "He's crashing the economy over a virus that China and the WHO says doesn't spread from person to person".

There were already hundreds dead in Wuhan and beyond way back in December. If this thing was something like the superflu from The Stand instead of what it is we'd already be dead anyway.

So his solution was to use reverse psychology?

I 100% agree it’s an indictment against our entire government. It’s a failure of a system that doesn’t work. Two systems really: capitalism and democracy. The most popular person running **** is just as stupid as the person with the most paper with numbers on it running ****. Two bad ideas that equal disaster.

Lucem Ferre 04-01-2020 10:45 AM

Nah, if Trump would have done the thing he should have done people wouldn't say **** about it once it got here.

It'd actually have made him look a whole lot better if he tried to prep people and took it seriously rather than whine about wanting to open everything up by Easter because the big bad Dems are trying to ruin the economy and his chances at being reelected.

OccultHawk 04-01-2020 10:48 AM

I actually think we’d have been flipping out over the fascism. Myself included.

Ant’s right on this one.

Like Frownland I am skeptical about China's numbers. The idea that a small country like Italy or Spain could have more/comparable amounts of cases as a country with a billion+ people is suspect.

But even if they did just clamp down severely on their population and that lead to success in combating the virus, the idea that they did so cause they care about their people is also very sketchy. They care enough about them to throw them in concentration camps for being the wrong religion or political ideology. They just care about maintaining order. It's like the old cliche about Hitler that "at least he kept the trains running on time."
