I'm aware of that, and to a certain extent that's true with many polls. The more you emphasize the costs the less people go with you.

The fact that people support it in principle points to some
glimmer of hope that it's sellable.

I won't wait for an explaination, but it blows my mind how people can't figure out bringing in Republicans who've defected make it look like Biden is a sensible choice for the undecideds in the country, while Trump brings in the MyPillow guy.

Biden isn't trying to win Musicbanter.

If making Biden the nominee won't sway Republicans then adding more defected Republicans to the mix probably won't work either. But who knows, you can get Americans to do pretty much anything if you repeat yourself enough. Source: 2016-2020 and politics throughout my entire life, really.
