We don't have a ceasefire with ISIS Khorasan, the group who actually did the bombing. We've even kinda sorta worked with the Taliban who are also fighting ISIS K as rivals.

The United States and the Taliban tacitly and unofficially worked together against IS-K before the U.S.-backed Afghan government collapsed, even though the two sides were adversaries, the Washington Post reported last year. During some of the Taliban’s battles against IS-K, U.S. personnel listened to the Taliban’s radio communications and conducted anti-IS-K airstrikes in useful areas, Post reporter Wesley Morgan wrote.

Alright fair enough you got me on that one lol but still if what you're saying is we were powerless to prevent the state from falling so quickly that still means your withdrawal and evacuation process should account for that.

So maybe the lack of air support is an inevitable result of the ceasefire but even so that helped lead to the rapid resurgence of the Taliban which, just from a surface level pov, it does not appear that we were at all prepared for.

So maybe the criticism is if you expect a rapid collapse you should prepare for a rapid evacuation and not bank on six months of time that you don't actually have?

I'd be surprised if there weren't any humanitarian or military tweaks we could have made, but how do you make plans that account for a country's immediate collapse that don't involve a time machine set to Sept. 12, 2001? It's kind of late in the game for duct tape and spit polishing.

You think the plans you would make if you expected the country to fall tomorrow are identical to the plans you would make if you thought you had 6 months to work with?

House Democrats are scared to tax billionaires – that’s a costly mistake

Shocking. If you wanted that to happen should have put Bernie in.

Not taxing the mega rich is so profoundly American in the most dumbass way. It's interesting to watch. You know, however did politics in a democracy end up so misguided? Is the derp just too hard?
