This I guess, is one element of labelling a country a giant douche-bag, but there are plenty of others. In the last 4 years the US opted out of the Paris Accord and the WHO, they implemented a policy of turning kids into orphans, they elected Trump, they turned the US into one of the most covid-toxic places on the planet, etc, etc.

Those are all douchebag things to do imo, and I hope that starting in January, some of that may be undone. In the meantime I think adidasss is right: 74 million US citizens have said they don't want to be douchebags anymore.

I know to follow the money rather than trusting old guys with money to do the right thing. If the Democratic Party is getting Chamber of Commerce money now then the people they're lobbying for (big business) are probably going to get the better end of the stick.

We were an oppressor lording over the 3rd world with aircraft carriers and unfair trade relations for a hundred years before Trump took office. Why don't you ask the Philippines if they think we'll all of a sudden turn out to be good people seeing as they were the first people to see how we dealt with international power and influence and then spent half a century being massacred by us.

I mean that's the way the world has always been.

Europeans only discovered they were against imperialism once they lost their empires. Coincidence, I'm sure.

Stupidity obviously. The idea of the legislature taking back power when they're already comfortable letting the judiciary handle their lawmaking responsibility so they can scare people into voting for them over judicial appointments is pretty dumb.

He will probably continue the Obama era legacy in that regard.

Which was hardly lax on executive action

And it's a mistake to think it's wise to try to rewind the clocks and restore congressional power

Congress is increasingly defunct and deferring power to the executive and judicial branches

That's not gonna change

**** the system. **** the 3 branches. **** democracy.

Pack the courts and sign executive orders. Power is all that matters.

Well, there was a take-back of power after Watergate. There's a lot of things Trump did because it wasn't illegal that we all thought it was an accepted norm. The pardons, the kids serving as whatever job they had. Things like that.

Wall Street donated to Obama and he still passed regulation against them. I know you want Glorius Revolution, but a few of us out here have something to lose. So we're not going to vote for it.

I was listening to something earlier that said the muslim ban, and the detention centers were going out immediately. I thought there was something else but I don't recall.
