My plan is to get the govt to directly invest in research and development of the necessary technologies. Your plan is quite literally just to wait for the apocalypse to kill most of us. So I think you come closer to Trump's do nothing approach here.

This is just a nonsense purity test argument. You aren't even worried about results or what is feasible. So either it's possible to fight climate change and therefore you also have to come up with a way to also fight these corporations or these corporations know that this is all a fool's errand and it doesn't matter what you do. But either way in the best circumstance you have an enemy in these corporations and you need to deal with them. What is your plan for dealing with them? Just having a plan to deal with climate change is at best half the battle.
