Just having a plan to deal with climate change is at best half the battle.
I have a plan to be a billionaire. Am I halfway there?

Climate change isn’t going to be resolved under capitalism but even if it was there’s still deforestation, coral reef death, plastics, depletion of aquifers, rivers and lakes decimated, the destruction of wetlands, desertification, unsustainable waste and garbage, nuclear arsenals that need to be dismantled, urban sprawl, over farming, destruction of biodiversity on every inch of human habitat and arable land, extinctions - all of this is at odds with economic models based on growth. Growth means very literally the exploitation of these things. There’s no other way to define it. Capitalism is based on the encroachment on the environment. Everything that is produced and consumed contributes to the destruction. The truth is we cannot solve even one of these problems when our economy is predicated on exacerbating ALL of these problems. No example of 20th century fascism even remotely competes with complete annihilation of the entire planet under our current model necro-capitalism. There’s never been anything like it and it’s completely incompatible with human existence.

how bad could this problem be if there wasn't even the one child per parent....

They could be dead already because of the hellish effects of overpopulation

I know for some reason you can’t or refuse understand that

I think it must be the heat in Texas that makes the whole state born again be fruitful and multiply christards.

To ****ing not get that China is overpopulated takes ****ing brain damage. ****ing market watch? Ffs. The rivers are poisoned. The air is unbreathable. I think that’s a little more devastating than one generation of suffering pensioners.

Growth is unsustainable. You can’t just keep adding to the population every year to subsidize the elderly. That’s an environmental Ponzi scheme.

Talk about class reductionism! Make the country unlivable forever! Anything to keep that economic ball rolling! Great thinking DeathSantis!

Oh, I read that overpopulation isn’t a thing... I guess it’s the birds that killed the air and the fish that killed the rivers... it couldn’t be the people because they’re the population and if they did it pointing that out would make you a eugenist ... a NAZI because only NAZIS think manmade problems are caused by people. It’s people being greedy that’s different than people being people derp derp it’s not the population of people it’s just a postmodern social construct that came out of an idea that’s not even real and killed the earth. So weird. Derp derp Soundgarden Rocks!!!

Hurray. There’s a theory that western **** living empty soul living standards can hold population at an already unsustainable number. Great ****ing argument.

It turns out that this liberate women and lift people out of poverty “solution” doesn’t even ****ing approach the problem of there being ****ing 7.5 billion goddamn people on the planet. Surprise! We don’t live in Fairytale Fantasyland.

If we all live how you want PEOPLE ARE STILL ****ing people. 7.5 billion still equals the earth is ****ing dead dip **** -

That’s the most idiotic neoliberal capitalism will fix itself democracy works mythology ever written. Do you see the insane litany of environmental problems there are or you wtf that doesn’t fit my agenda derp derp:

deforestation, coral reef death, plastics, depletion of aquifers, rivers and lakes decimated, the destruction of wetlands, desertification, unsustainable waste and garbage, nuclear arsenals that need to be dismantled, urban sprawl, over farming, destruction of biodiversity on every inch of human habitat and arable land, extinctions

people people people people people

this many ****ing people is obviously too ****ing many

ffs

it’s like having to explain to an argumentative colorblind fool that pink isn’t green.

OccultHawk 10-17-2020 06:45 AM

Hang on. I’m gonna go check if all the people are gone since we're wealthier than Uganda. Hold up.

OccultHawk 10-17-2020 06:56 AM

HOLY ****!!!

I just went outside and you’re not gonna believe what’s going out there.

A car went by with a person inside. Releasing greenhouse gases in spite of global warming. And we’re in a hurricane zone. ****ing incredible.

And we’ve been one of the wealthiest nations on earth since the forties. Why didn’t the people disappear derp derp

people in India living in cardboard boxes are not destroying the environment, native Africans are not destroying the environment

the commodity form is...SUVs, planes, cruise ships, McDonald's... China's arsenal of cheap doo dad and gadget factories

I mean I get your point and I agree but you talk like you think all 'native Africans' live in straw huts ffs

I’m just telling you what I saw. My assumption is the car was built by people with materials mined by people running on fuel that was extracted by people. The car was being driven by a person. Maybe it would help if I let you draw the conclusion. Which came first? The person or the car? The person or the road? The person or the pollution? Cause. Effect.

Frownland 10-17-2020 09:06 AM

Overpopulation does not exist. It was only proposed to justify abject poverty as a rule of life.
